About this project
What is Digital Asset Management (DAM)?
Digital Asset Management enables organizations to search, find, and use their digital assets from creation to distribution. A digital asset is any digital file of inherit value to an organization, including audio, video, text, graphics and/or photographs.
How it all got started
Several years ago, I was frustrated by the lack of information available about Digital Asset Management (DAM) in the user and administrator perspective, so I started Another DAM blog. This quickly became popular among the global DAM community because I was not alone in how I felt. So I continued to created more original content about DAM regularly.
I noticed other professionals had great points to make about DAM, so I started Another DAM podcast where I interviewed people involved in Digital Asset Management about how and why they used DAM across a vast array of organizations.
All of the podcasts are available free of charge. The blog and podcast will remain free of charge for everyone as reference. I will continue to create more content for both.
What content exists today
As of the launch of this Kickstarter project, I have over 120 podcast episodes with over 80 interviews of different people talking about DAM and another 40 episodes where I read some of the most popular blog posts from Another DAM blog so they could be listened to quickly rather than just read.
Who is the audience?
People from over 64 countries have listened to Another DAM podcast to learn more about Digital Asset Management and how is DAM used within various organizations. Professionals working in the field of DAM listen to these podcasts and enrich their knowledge from the variety of perspectives. College students are assigned to listen to these podcasts as it relates to their course work in Library Science, Information Management and Archival Studies.
What will get done once fully funded
Since audio is difficult to search and reference, I started this Kickstarter project to transcribe Another DAM podcast from audio into searchable text which will make these easier to reference, especially the interviews. The transcription services charge for every minute of audio transcribed. Then, all of the transcripts have to be reviewed and edited. These transcriptions will become searchable text and then made into an ebook for Kickstarter backers of this project. This is not a rush job. I will need a few months to get this done right so I can deliver some great rewards for you.
After all the rewards have been delivered, the searchable text will be made available online and linked to the respective audio podcasts at http://anotherdampodcast.com.
Every backer of this project will get an ebook of Another DAM podcast transcribed which will be DRM-free. This ebook will include all embedded links and all text will be searchable to easily reference (Available in August 2013).
Some backers will have the opportunity to talk with the host about any Digital Asset Management-related topic of their choice.
A few backers will get a very limited edition, printed book of the Another DAM podcast transcribed, autographed by the host (Available in August 2013).
Please support this project and help spread the word about transcribing Another DAM podcast.
Risks and challenges
There are two main risks possible:
1. Funding: If the project does not get fully funded, Another DAM podcast does not get transcribed. If this is not fully funded backers get there money back, but no rewards.
2. Delays: The transcriptions may take longer than anticipated, could require returning some transcripts back to be redone for a variety of issues and/or editing could take a while. I have anticipated these possible issues and that is why I am planning to deliver most rewards in August 2013. This could be the beginning, middle or end of August.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
