THE FAITHFUL is a feature documentary that explores pop-iconography, through the images and representations of Elvis Presley, Pope John Paul II, and Princess Diana. Filmed over a decade, THE FAITHFUL interweaves trips to Graceland, the Vatican, and Kensington Palace and reveals the conflicting relationship between art, religion, expression, and the law.

The making of this film has been an unbelievable personal journey and collaborative effort, fueled by your passion and contributions. The film's completion is now in sight. For $25K, we can afford a talented editor and sound designer for a 2013 release. For $50K, we can up our game and bring in a sound mixer, colorist, and graphic designer.Everything above will go to outreach and distribution. Please help make it happen!
THE FAITHFUL features everyday people like Joe Passos, an Elvis fan who shares his Elvis traditions with his family; Maria Lindberg, a Princess Diana fan from Florida; Rockin’ Robin Rosaaen a lifelong Elvis collector from California; Jerry Engelby and Annie Schmutzler, (‘the pink and black Elvis gals”) from Missouri, who never miss an Elvis Week; Margaret Tyler, one of the world’s largest collectors of Diana memorabilia; and the youth who pilgrimage to World Youth Day with Pope John Paul II.
Alfred Wertheimer whose iconic Elvis photos from 1956 have seeped into the collective conscious, and Arthur Edwards who travelled the globe photographing Princess Diana for The Sun.
Robert Sillerman, Billionaire media mogul who acquired the name, image, and likeness of Elvis Presley for $100,000,000, in addition to American Idol; Patsy Andersen, the former fan relations manager of Graceland; Marjorie Weeke the Vatican’s media gatekeeper; David Fawkes spokesperson for Princess Diana’s family estate, Althorp.
El Vez performing as the Mexican Elvis; Documentary photographer Ralph Burns whose photographs of Elvis Week span 35 years; Joni Mabe the self proclaimed Elvis Babe whose work is permanently installed in her Elvis museum in Georgia; Kata Billups whose Elvis works explore modern mythology; Kathy Lee Kittle who fashions the suits for Elvis Tribute Artists; and Elvis Tribute Artists Paul Butler, Jason Michael, and Robert Washington.

Annie Berman is an interdisciplinary media artist whose background in photography and psychology inspires work about visual culture, religion, and the changing media landscape. Her work has screened at festivals, galleries, and universities, including the Harvard Film Center, UnionDocs, and Boston University. Past President of the Board of Women in Film and Video New England, and founder of Fish in the Hand Productions, Annie has received grants from the Puffin Foundation and the Somerville Arts Council. She is currently a MFA candidate in Integrated Media Arts at Hunter College, and a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective.

Andre Valentim Almeida is a media theorist, filmmaker, and PHD candidate. He recently premiered two documentary features, "From New York with Love" (IndieLisboa 2012 official selection) and "Uma na Bravo Outra na Ditadura". His work has been screened at MoMA, the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, and TEDx Brooklyn, among others.
