Moving is expensive and Kevin needs our help to move his entire shop, inventory and equipment to 3215 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405!
After our Kickstarter ends, find us here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ChurchofType
“Church of Type” is the rebranded edition of Kevin Bradley’s brand / company, Yee-Haw Industries, established in 1997 in Knoxville, TN.
Recently after 17 years, Kevin decided to pursue a solo career, relocate and bring large-format, full custom art and design letterpress studio/retail to the west coast.
Kevin combines the beauty of hand carved illustrations and type into woodblocks to create the work - genuine in its method and unique to his look and philosophy. Variations in letterpress printing exists and each poster has its own unique characteristics. These works are all handmade, unique and won't steal your soul.
Kevin's spent the last year packing up an enormous inventory of original artwork and posters, 200-year old equipment and cabinets full of more than 800 vintage type sets.
Please support his move to bring this cultural institution to a new part of the United States! Check out the rewards and pick up something great for yourself or as a gift. Your pledges pay for a driver a forklift and a lot of gas.

WHY HAVE I LAUNCHED THIS PROJECT? Kevin is incredibly talented, easy to work with and I love his art. For many years, we discussed working together and the time has finally come! We're opening Church of Type as a retail shop, working museum and letterpress studio in Santa Monica, CA. I'll manage the shop operations so that Kevin can get back to work.
As a curator, I've been working with Kevin Bradley | Yee-Haw Industries since 1998. I brought his artwork back from Knoxville, TN and exhibited it in Washington, DC at gallery and art events I organized. In 2000, the exhibit we did was reviewed in the Washington Post: http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-525246.html
In 2011 I included Kevin's work in my curatorial selection for the WPA SELECT art auction: http://www.wpadc.org/auction/auc2011/adjchavanich.html

Risks and challenges
We've been preparing for months and got written estimates for moving expenses way ahead of time. Over 100 volunteers came in to help count posters, label and pack everything.
Our risks are very low. The reward offers are already printed and ready to be packed and shipped once the campaign ends. We've know our shipping suppliers for years and have extra tubes and packaging materials on hand.
And just to be sure, we've built in extra time for fulfillment.
We only announced our Kickstarter campaign once the ink was dry on our new lease and Kevin had the trucker all picked out to drive 40,000 lbs worth of equipment and inventory out west.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
