Book, Music, Lyrics, & Training Programs written by Anna Westbrook

Album Summary: This 11-track album tells the story of a 16 year old girl named Isabel who runs away from home and finds herself trapped on a magical train full of people who won't stop running. Isabel is the only person on board who remembers her own name and it is up to her to stop the train and save the other passengers (including a Porter, several Choir Members, and a mysterious Writer who may or may not be dead). However, the relationships between Isabel, the passengers and the evil Conductor turns out to be much more complicated than she originally thought. She soon discovers that in order to get off the train, she will have to take a hard look in the mirror and lean on her family to process an unaddressed history of trauma.  Learn to discuss sexual maltreatment, invest in your own mental health, and support #metoo survivors by pre-ordering this full album and experiencing Isabel's musical journey.

Listening Party Summary: Our Community Listening Party will be hosted by Armstrong Community Music School on September 8th from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This will be a flexible timeline event with three interactive listing stations, culminating in a live performance of a selection of songs from the album. The experience will be curated by local producer, composer and playwright Anna Westbrook with assistance from key Isabel team members, including audio product manager Jajuan Sanabria. Local wellness professional Junice Rockman (Clinical Psychotherapist, M.A. LPC-Intern) will be present at the listening party to help support audience members during our guided listening activities and to facilitate a group discussion during the live performance that will close out the event.

"Friend of Survivor" Video Training: Most people know someone who has experienced sexual maltreatment. However, they may not know that they know someone who has experienced this, and if they do, they may not know what to say to support them. Our pre-recorded Friend of a Survivor webinar will help you understand how to use the Isabel music to address that issue and support survivors. CEO and Isabel Lead Trainer Anna Westbrook will guide you through why she wrote each song and how you can help your friends heal by sharing the music with them in thoughtful ways.

Risks and challenges

Arts Activism & Compensation: Many arts activists operate on a strictly volunteer basis. The Isabel leadership has worked hard to provide stipends to our arts contributors because we value sustainable business models. In order to pay a stipend to each of the artists in this project, we need a combination of government funding, community funding (this crowdfund) and in-kind donations. With full funding, the complete recording of the album will employ ten local musicians and the live performance at the Armstrong Community Music School will employ eight local musicians. By writing a grant that meets the primary needs of our budget and networking with local ATX organizations to meet in-kind donation needs, we are ensuring that your crowdfund donation will go as far as it can towards our goal of funding artist stipends.
