About

Welcome to The Unemployed Show Fundraiser!

WHAT IS THE UNEMPLOYED SHOW?

The Unemployed Show is a comedic talk show that brings you equal parts horrifying job stories, funny takes on survival, and hilarious games to turn the struggle of being unemployed into fun...employed.

THE PROJECT!

We've made 44 episodes LIVE on Facebook and now we're here to make AN ORIGINAL PILOT. The show started almost 2 years ago and has been a fully produced Facebook Live program. However, times are changing and we want to take this to the next level: TV! The Unemployed Show has become a voice for millennials without a job, or those who are working a job that isn't their career. It's a tough place to be in and we've become experts in surviving these hard times. First and foremost, we like to have fun because there's no way to get through being unemployed without having a reason to laugh. If you feel stuck at a job, or wrote your 68th cover letter today, you are not alone. We've been there and we're here to help. The proof of concept pilot will be an in-studio talk show with guest interviews, a bartender, a live studio audience, the works! Because there has been interest in the show, this pilot will help us share our vision for the show with those who ask us what this could look like on TV! Have you seen a late night show? Picture that, but we're all in pajamas.

Take a look at what the show has been so far! Here's a fun SIZZLE REEL.

WHY WE NEED YOU!

We've had a ton of fun doing this show in an apartment but we know it can be more successful if we shoot a proper pilot in a studio. Also, with post production, WOW! How exciting that will be! We have everything we need to make it, except we need to pay for the work and the equipment. We need to EMPLOY some people!

Viewers from all over reach out to us all the time that our show has helped them during rough times. That's incredible and we want to bring it to a wider audience! By supporting us you're helping us have a positive impact on people's lives.

Risks and challenges

It's not easy to produce a pilot that shows your exact vision, but we believe in this show and want to make a version of it that's different and exciting from what we've been making on Facebook Live. A show that maintains the same spirit and humor. We've built this show from the ground up and have always run into problems (confirming guests, crew availability, the uncertainties of shooting live), but in spending two years addressing quickly and efficiently these issues we can pretty much handle anything that comes our way with a solution that sometimes was even better than the first idea. With a taped version of the pilot there will be new elements to making the show that we have never dealt with. These include keeping the live element, how we will continue to include social media, adding the roles of bartender/DJ and the typical hiccups that happen on a production set on a larger scale. Despite these possible challenges we feel very confident in our abilities. We know this show so well and have done every ounce of pre-production for this pilot. Additionally we have an incredibly experienced crew that has worked on large sets before and work in production so they are used to the challenges that happen on a set. With any project where the crew is mostly volunteers there is always the possibility of someone needing to take a paid job that comes up, but we have a lot of friends willing to pitch in and help coordinate a live taping of the show. We are lucky to have such talented friends to help shoot this and make it come alive, to the best of our ability on our own.
