We Are Funded! We Are Adding Stretch Goals! You Guys Rock! CAPITALIZATION!!!!
We love miniatures games, and you can't play them without terrain. Well, you can, but that gets really boring really fast. With all the laser cut MDF terrain out there you're probably asking yourself "what makes these guys different?"
We have a very specific goal in mind with our terrain; the ability to throw enough scenery on a table to play a good game for $50 MSRP. Yes, that's an absurdly low price compared to the market value. It's also how we want it. Here at Angry Mojo Games, we believe that games are meant to be played, not just looked at.
If you're at home, the price of terrain excludes much of the gaming community from playing. Game stores quickly run into the problem of expensive terrain consuming their budget, followed by the inevitable maintenance cost of repairing broken scenery. Our goal is to get those costs as low as possible without sacrificing appearance. Our designs are coming along very well towards this ideal, but we've hit the point where we simply can't do it at the speeds we're working with.
This is where you, oh mighty and wise backer, come in. We have a laser cutter, we just need a more powerful tube. Once that bigger, more powerful tube comes in, it means faster cutting times. Faster cutting times means better fulfillment, lower prices, and more terrain in each box. This means more terrain on your table, and more awesomeness.
What's that you say? Fulfillment in December of this year? Yeah, we thought we should mention that. Unlike most Kickstarters in this vein, we already have the laser cutter and a material supplier. We've been in production for a few months, in fact. Because of this, we can begin production and fulfillment the moment Kickstarter and Amazon payments puts the check in our grubby little hands. All we need is the upgraded tube, and our supplier is local. UPDATE: Due to the high number of pledges, new backers can expect fulfillment in January. We're going on a first come first serve basis, so those who have pledged already should still be on track for December.
Our December fulfillment date is our estimated time to begin fulfillment, and we'll be shipping in the order people backed our project. Updates during and after the kickstarter will give estimates for the actual delivery dates. We want as many packages in your hands before the holidays as we can get.
The Terrain Itself
We've broken these terrain sets into three boxes, each one providing a satisfying gaming experience.
Downtown Hexopolis: Final Pledge
If you play futuristic games that rely on urban-combat, like Infinity, you typically need a lot of terrain. While a single box won't get you a full Infinity table, it'll put you well on your way. Hexopolis is the city of tomorrow, and you can tell from all the hexagons. Our downtown pack includes four full buildings, a pair of bus stops, and a three pack of advertisement space so the local businesses can shove their product down your throat even as you fight for your life. Thanks to our stretch goals, those pieces of modern art you see will be included. More stretch goals are planned, it'll look like a real futuristic city. You can tell it's in the future, look at all those hexagons.
So many games include an undead faction, yet nobody makes a graveyard. Funny, that. Not anymore! Our graveyard pack includes three jumbo mausoleums, six smaller tombs, a dozen above ground sarcophagi, and rows upon rows of headstones for those actually in the ground. Add a gazebo from some stretch goals. Plenty of blocking terrain, cover, severe terrain, and a creepy New Orleans style necropolis vibe. We play a lot of Malifaux at Angry Mojo, and we designed this box with that in mind.
Ruins and Rubble
Finally, we have our ruins. This is probably the most basic type of terrain we see at our local game stores, it's functional and it works. With our box, you'll have an easily assembled, attractive set of ruins about as congested as you need for any given game of Warhammer 40k, Warmachine, or any other game which features ruined structures with multiple levels. Which is all of them. This box includes two large three-tiered structures, six two-tiered structures, eight ruined corners, and six feet worth of ruined wall in three-inch sections. Thanks to all our wonderful backers, stretch goals have added a sizable rubble patch, some impact craters, ruined ramps, makeshift bridges, and a ruined chapel.
Hexopolis Escalation Pack: $20
Spanish Mission: $40
Cemetery Fence: $18
Risks and challenges
Considering we already have our main laser, the main risk lies in not receiving the funding we need to get the better tube. We'll do our best to get the price down, but without that tube it won't be at the level we want.
Other challenges include delays in shipping and fulfillment, problems with production, and acts of God.
