Angry Dave.

Welcome to the Angry Dave Podcast, hosted by none other than David Todd McCarty.

So, why is Dave so angry you ask? Let's start with the fact that he has to explain this to you in the first place. The world is crumbling around your feet and you want Dave to explain why he's angry? Shouldn't it be more than obvious? This is what he's talking about.

The fact is, that for someone like Angry Dave, it doesn't take much to make him irritated. Assholes who drive slow in the left hand lane. Grocery stores that make you bag your own groceries, with your own bags. Republicans. Skinny jeans. Democrats. High wasted shorts on women. Tank tops on men. Shitty parents. Restaurants that don't provide free wifi. Loud talkers. People who get to the top of an escalator, just outside the door of the plane, or right inside the door to a mall, and just stop. They just fucking stop.

Roughly once a week, Angry Dave will pick a few topics and speak his mind. At some point during the course of the show, he'll bring on a guest co-host to join him and discuss the topic of the day. If he can't get any of his lazy, worthless, they-said-they-would-do-it-but-now-they're-too-busy, friends of his to come in, he might call a friend or take a live caller.

So, why does he need the money? It ain't to pay the electric bill baby. We need some gear to make this puppy run properly.

The plan is to buy a relatively high-end, two-microphone podcast kit complete with mixer, headphones, pop-screens, articulating arms, blah, blah, blah. The kit also has the ability to take callers from a land line and mix them in.

It's about $1000 all in for just the gearWe also need a land line, because who the hell has one of those anymore? We don't even know how much that costs. We're guessing. And we're going to make some t-shirts to give out to guests hosts and friends of the podcast, you know, to promote the show.

So that’s how we came up with a goal of $1500.

So what do you get? You get a weekly podcast ya greedy bastard. Isn't that enough?! Damn millennials. Think the world owes you something.

In addition to the rewards listed, anyone who gives money will be listed on the website. According to how much they gave. That's right. If you give $5, we're going to put you in the $5 club. You want to be with the men, you need to give at least $25. The more you give, the more prestigious your place will be. You can't rule the world as a cheapskate. Dominance takes money. Dig deep.

Okay, that's enough bullshit for now. Let's do this thing.

UPDATE: I jumped the gun and went ahead and bought the gear after we hit the goal in less than 48 hours. The good thing about that is I’m learning what I didn’t know. I’ve already spent another $200 on software I wasn’t aware I was going to need and there is a $140/year hosting fee I wasn’t exactly counting on. The point is, I could still use some additional pledges to get us all the way there.

Risks and challenges

The first challenge we have of making a good podcast, is simply having the right equipment, and figuring out the workflow. That's where you come in. We need the money.

Next we need to round up some guest co-hosts and schedule said hosts. We're prepared for Dave to go solo if need be in order to keep this moving, but we think having guests will make things more interesting. We also are investing in telephone call-in technology so we can talk to guests across the country.

Then all we need to do is record the podcast.

That's not actually true. There is a little matter of a editing, but hopefully we won't have to edit it too heavily. That could make this too cumbersome.

We also need to develop an introduction. Some sort of music bed and a few sound effects. Maybe record an announcer voice. Also something to take the show out at the end.

It might take a month to get the first one on the air, so be patient. There are lot of people who say they're interested in helping, so hopefully all goes well and we can have a little fun at Angry Dave's expense.

One, cold, hard stare—if we ever meet face to face, which isn't all that likely given that I rarely socialize, but certainly within the realm of possibility.

If you've got that kind of money to throw around, clearly nothing will stop you from your designated role as a destroyer of men and enemy of sheep, certainly not my shitty podcast, so at the end of each show, for up to a year, or as long as the podcast lasts, I will insult you. Just a little.
