STRETCH GOAL THREE!!! $9600
This has been the most incredible 24 hours! Not only have we hit our stretch goal, but within three hours of launching our second, you smashed through that one too! OK, so two smaller stretch goals achieved, lets bring out the big guns! For Stretch Goal number three, and for all you Red Dwarf fans out there, we would like to build the Red Dwarf Bunk Set! Looking at our timescales, its very possible that this set won’t get built in time to debut at Anglicon, BUT we will still build it and it will debut at another convention! (And where? Well, who want’s it first when its completed? Convention organizers, please drop us a line!) We really want to build this set, and we hope, through your generosity, that we can! Pledge, share. Lets see if we can make this set a reality too!
NEW STRETCH GOAL! $6,600
Our backers continue to amaze us. We literally have just hours left for this and you all have given us so much joy! We are pleased to offer another stretch goal. Crazy! Maybe but you all seem to surpass our expectations every time. We would love the opportunity to be the historical 10 Downing St.
Downing Street is a street in London, United Kingdom, known for housing the official residences and offices of the Prime Minister and other officials and were apart of such BBC shows as Number 10 and Margaret! We are so excited to make this happen! Thank you.
STRETCH GOAL! $5,800
Firstly, we would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who has pledged to make this Kickstarter campaign a success! Our plans are ambitious, and we are thrilled that we are now able to commence work on building the classic Tardis Console for Anglicon – and don’t forget, if you are a convention organiser, you too can contact us to arrange for this amazing item to appear at YOUR event too!
So, where to go from here? We already have the Tardis Police Box, and thanks to your generosity, the Console will be debuting at our event! Our first stretch goal is another Tardis – for where the Doctor’s magical time machine lands, you can be sure the Master (or even Missy!) is never far behind him.
First appearing in the classic Doctor Who story Logopolos, and then again in Castrovalva (Both featuring Anglicon guest, the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison) The Masters Tardis too the form of a classical fluted architectural column. And its this very item that we will be aiming to build! Anyone attending Anglicon and Cosplaying as The Master will love the opportunity to be photographed with this super prop!
This isn’t a huge stretch goal – just 800 Dollars!
Please share, please pledge! Let’s see if The Master is just as popular as The Doctor!
Background: The story so far!
Anglicon is the Pacific Northwest’s premier Doctor Who and British media convention, and it’s taking place on December 8th through 10th 2017 at the Doubletree by Hilton, Seattle Airport.
For this years event, we’re aiming to present some ambitious, all new elements for our members and attendees to enjoy – and we need YOUR help!
In planning the event, we asked people what they would like to see and do at the event. And the most popular, and tongue in cheek suggestion was, “To travel in the TARDIS” – and this got us thinking… whilst Time travel is not yet possible, could we create a visitor experience that would give people the opportunity to at least visit the TARDIS.
We already have the most amazing full size Police Box, but what about the amazing machine contained behind those magical blue doors?
The Project: (Initial goal achieved!!! THANK YOU!)
It’s our aim to construct a full sized copy of the TARDIS console to be displayed at Anglicon 2017 – a researched and accurate copy of the prop used in the studio filming of Doctor Who.
During our initial researches, we asked fans which version of the Console did they most like (we didn’t ask them WHY we wanted to know of course!) and whilst the modern day consoles scored very highly, the one that resonated the most as being THE most popular amongst those we asked was the version used in the late 1970’s and early 80’s – the classic Tom Baker / Peter Davison crossover era of the show. In the last few months, and to prepare for this ambitious project, our dedicated team of builders have researched and immersed themselves in Classic Who, and are preparing to start building.
…And that’s where you come in! We need your help to make this project a reality. Every dollar pledged will be used to cover the materials we need to build this most iconic of props, store it and transport it!
The Project: Initial goals and stretch goals
Our initial goal is to build the Console itself. As already mentioned, the project has been fully researched, and our team are gearing up to start the build. But if we reach our goals, what then?
In researching the Console, we also researched the Console room too – and if we hit our initial goal, we’ll expand the scope of the project to include a copy of the Studio Set itself, complete with its fluted columns, scanner screen and iconic white walls with the indented circular round motif … the infamous “Roundels”
Beyond that, if our stretch goal is met, who knows where that Tardis will take us? Well, actually, we do know! And it’s exciting! But we can’t tell you just yet! Help us reach our goal and all will be revealed!
Beyond the Project:
We decided early on in the planning stage that, once our Console was built and had premiered at Anglicon, that rather than leave it languishing in storage until the following years event, that we would make it available to events and other conventions around the US. So if you’re a convention organizer, and you want to include the TARDIS console at your event, just let us know! And that extends to all of our various projects if we meet our goals.
This isn’t just a project for Anglicon, but an opportunity to create something quite wonderful for the greater US Fan convention community.
Meet the Team:
Whilst you’ve already met Chris and Abie in our short Anglicon Kickstarter promo video, Anglicon is more than just two people. Working alongside them both is a passionate and dedicated team of Scifi and Fantasy fans working hard to make Anglicon 2017 a reality.
To make this vears event even more special, and with high aims, our Anglicon family has expanded and we’re pleased to have on board a team of very talented prop builders who have been planning the physical build with us.
If you’d like to know more about what the project means to them, please click on the link below which will take you to their Youtube story!
If you have any questions regarding the project, the goals, the rewards, or if you want to learn more about Anglicon, just contact us! We look forward to hearing from you!
…and don’t forget to pledge!
Risks and challenges
We’re giving ourselves a month to build the TARDIS Console (and console room) for Anglicon. As mentioned, its fully researched and materials have been identified. We then have an additional month to build our stretch goals. That’s a short timeframe, but we are confident that we can deliver. Should there be any delay, The TARDIS will take priority, and will debut at Anglicon in December, with our stretch projects debuting at subsequent events. But once built all items will be available to other events and conventions.
Of course, transporting large set pieces can be a tricky (and costly) business. If you are an event organizer and want the Tardis Console at your event, we’ll need to ensure that it breaks down and can be easily assembled at your venue. (smaller vehicles means you can save on your van hire charges when you arrange the console through us!)
Our build team will be building the TARDIS in durable sections – easy to assemble, and very easy to transport!
Storage costs. There’s no way around it, unless of course you happen to live in a TARDIS yourself and have acres of rooms to store wonderful props like this within! We’re not for profit, and so any revenue generated from hiring the Tardis (and other items) out to other events and conventions will be exclusively used to maintain the props and provide paid for storage in a secure facility.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
