Greetings from all of us here at Angelblood Publishing. We would like to thank you for taking your time to look at what we are doing.
We are an independent publishing company that focuses on publishing graphic and fantasy novels derived from the game play of our table top role playing game Angelblood. As we publish more and more stories that our players submit the world begins to fill up, and we as a community would have then created a massive sandbox for everyone to play in.
The book itself has been fully created minus a few minor edits. The cover (pictured above) has been fully paid for and as you can see in the videos we have several books delivered already. It is an 8.5" x 11" hardcover book with 160+ pages of content. The stretch goals listed below will allow us to add other expansions to the book which in turn will make the book our backers purchase even more packed with information and playable archetypes, increasing the number of pages.
THESE BOOKS WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLY DURING THIS KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN!!! As we continue grow we will be partnering with a distributor that will distribute only the base version of the book. The expansions will not be included in those books and the cover will be adjusted. The books available during this campaign are indeed a ***LIMITED EDITION*** that will include all expansions that are approved.
This game is derived from several games and genres that the creator has been exposed to throughout his life. He wanted a game where he can incorporate the games and cartoons he grew up with all at the same time. The classic 80s and 90s cartoons of Thundercats, Voltron, GI Joe, Transformers, Dragonball, X-Men, He-Man, the Marvel and DC Universes and so many others have helped shaped this world and fueled the customizable aspect of character creation. The possibilities are literally endless. Throughout our beta testing sessions we have created several characters that mimic our favorite cartoon and comic characters. We have even recreated ancient Greek legends such as Hercules and Athena in the game. Please check the updates for more details on character creation, the dice system and setting for the world.
Because we do not want to infringe on other IPs we cannot and will not ever publish these characters. Nonetheless, they are fun to play with. And though our goal is to publish original stories we want our players to have fun, create and play as whomever or whatever they want. This is the reason for the stretch goals. Hitting those marks will allow us to incorporate so many more archetypes and increase the player's options for creating characters that we can publish. Blending both the fun aspect that all games should have and keeping each character and their story unique enough for us to publish.
Our game is unique in the fact that we encourage our players to be creative and unique when customizing and creating their characters. Players have the ability to augment their character's attributes, and abilities in an infinite number of combinations. Not to mention an extremely flexible character creation system regarding the race that a particular player may want to play as. Humans, Angels, Werewolves, and Vampires are pretty straight forward regarding character creation. Options to play as mythical creatures such as a Fawn, or a Centaur are available as well using the Custom Demon or Gargoyle templates.
The system we use and are calling (for now anyway) the "Cause and Effect System" takes the power out of the GMs hands and puts it in the hands of the players. It is easier for a player to generate what it is they are looking for in a particular situation when playing an RPG rather than the GM. This system rewards players for being proactive. And on the flip side, punishes them for being reactive.
An example of this would be Player A is on a mission for the OTC (The Order of the Church) they have to infiltrate a building in the freezone that is occupied by several bad guys. The player can go about this in whatever way they choose. Let's say they want to check for an underground passage that leads to the heart of the building. Rolling successful on their Perception skill would allow them to find that passage. An unsuccessful roll would mean that the passage does not exist. If they choose to do nothing and wait for the GM to take an action the GM at that point has the power. We want players to retain the power and push their story forward. The world of Angelblood revolves around the decisions the player makes throughout gameplay. We want our GMs to simply maintain the balance. The world has several factions and groups already active and upon character creation and the archetypes selected every character starts the game with enemies and allies. Building a relationship with one group creates a potential conflict with another. These conflicts that are created and how the player chooses to handle them are what help shape a character's story.
The only limitation that players face when playing Angelblood is the self imposed limitation on their own imagination. We encourage creativity and cleverness. Our slogan "Be a Game Changer!!!" is exactly what we want our players to strive toward.
The Angelblood world itself is a fantasy setting that draws it's history from our own here on Earth. Where key events in the world of Angelblood coincide with key events that have taken place here on Earth.
The creator of Angelblood, Aaron Ross has been building this world for a little more than 15 years now. We have been testing the game play mechanics in the Houston area for a little more than 3 years now and have received nothing but positive reviews from both new, and seasoned table top role players.

We would suggest purchasing one of the Player Personal Character Books so that you can have several character sheet sets to help chronicle and organize your characters. This in turn also makes you eligible to have your story published at some point in the future if you so choose.

As we gain contributions beyond our target number, we have all sorts of amazing added rewards for contributors. Our range of possible awards include several expansions to the world of Angelblood allowing for more character archetypes and expanded territories to host adventures, and game maps of the surrounding areas of our corporate zones. We also are planning to give away Player Personal Character Books for free for qualified backers. Our Angelblood Lite expansion is a project we feel very good about. It allows for children ages 7 & up to play alongside adult players without game play being bogged down or immersion being suffered. And free dice. We all love and need more dice right.
The World of Light and Dark Expansion- $10,000
In this expansion players are introduced to elite warriors from both the Positive and Negative side of Faith.
On the Positive side of Faith players will be introduced to the Gargoyle Clans. Former slaves in the realm of Hell that have fought their way to freedom. Also, the Anointed Path will be made available for only the most loyal and faithful of Holy Hunters.
On the Negative side of Faith players can choose to play as an elite collector of souls known as the Acaph. Many demons that seek overwhelming power to be granted to them take this path to prove their Faith. The HellKnights are available as well. This group of elite Unholy Hunters ride monstrous, demonic mounts and are honor bound to rid Earth of those loyal to the Positive side of Faith.
The Marine World Expansion- $15,000
In this expansion, players literally have the already vast territory available to them in the base game, double in size as they now can explore the world of water both above and below in Angelblood. Seek fame and fortune as a Z-Captain. Commander of your very own Z-Stroyer, build up your crew and complete missions on behalf of the Z Corporation.
Defend your family, or tear families apart with your powerful bite as a member of the Mar (Positive) or Orchan (Negative) clans.
Or test your might alongside the Nephalym as they battle large monsters in Monster Row.
Many of the concepts in this expansion can be implemented with campaigns that are primarily on land. The archetype for the Z-Captain for instance can be used in part for players that wish to command their very own corporate zone. The monster creation template allows the GM to throw some pretty heavy monkey wrenches in the middle of the group's path. Seriously!!! They are so fun!!!
Adventure Modules and Game Maps $20,000
If we reach this goal anyone that has purchased a copy of the book, or the group package will be sent printed versions of our game maps (number of maps TBD) and a free Player's Personal Character Book. These maps include various layouts of villages and encampments located in the freezone. As well as locations of corporate zones, and their neighboring areas. Backers will also receive 3 loosely interpretive adventure modules that they can play through with their gaming group. These modules will be delivered in a PDF format. The modules that will be available are as follows:
- The formation of the Black Sun Corp.: Work as one of the first mercenaries to partner with the all powerful Black Sun Corp. while it was still in it's infancy. Help them rise to power and earn your place as an executive member of their police force/ mercenary group The Black Sun Elites.
- The Order of Smite: Start off with your team as a group of misfit holy hunters that have been chosen for a special mission. Work alongside your team and develop chemistry, faith in and with one another prior to disembarking to a country that has been overrun by the forces of darkness. Once you are there, you are all that you have as you race against time to eliminate all evil forces before their foothold on the country is completely secured.
- Prison Breakout in Karma: Several members of the Gaul unit have escaped Karma and if your character meets the prerequisites he or she will be asked to assist with bringing them in. Completion of this task without any mistakes will allow you to join and ally yourself with essentially the Judge, Jury and Executioners of the world of Angelblood; Karma's Hand. They are charged with maintaining the balance in the world but to do so they need agents. Are you up for the challenge?
The Working Class Expansion- $30,000
In this expansion players are introduced to several more specialized character archetypes that frankly are just fun as hell to play as.
A monk that wears a very large gold necklace and has the power to see Evil Intent. Cho-Lan monks eliminate those with a Negative Faith. The Brotherhood of Ida-Ten eliminate those that are on their way to commit evil acts whether they be on the Positive or Negative side. Better be on your best behavior around these guys.
Legendary warriors heralded by the Indigenae. The perfect blend of man and beast. The Indigenae have been terrorized by the corporations for decades. Finally they have a weapon of their own to match the corporation's deadly metal men (cyborgs).
These are just a couple of the character types available in the Working Class Expansion there are many more such as the Neighborhood Hero, The Neighborhood Villain, Pack Leader and our personal favorite Ascended Demonic Beast. Yes!!! We are totally serious. You can play as a horned 2 headed bear with wings that shoots fire. Or a dragon if you wanna be, y'know, normal.
Angelblood Lite Expansion- $40,000
Hitting this goal will allow us the opportunity to get artwork done to complete our Angelblood Lite project. Any backer that purchases a full Game Book will recieve a copy of Angelblood Lite for FREE!!!
Printing costs are the biggest burden for this project as we need to place an order of 5,000 copies or more in order to make the expansion reasonably priced for distribution. If this goal is reached we will also add it to our rewards list to allow other backers a chance to purchase it separately.
The system is very much simplified to make it easy for younger children to get involved in the action.
The cards will have custom artwork on them to illustrate the action that the player is allowed to take for that specific round of combat. Each deck of cards will have enough cards for 4 players and 1 GM. The special ability functionality is modified so that the players select a category related to the special abilities and with a successful skill roll are allowed to pretty much do whatever they can imagine related that element.
For example: Let's say you have selected the Fire element card as one of your categories. And you have a Special Ability card in your hand. You travel down a dark cave and reach the bottom and are surrounded by demons. You literally have the power of Fire in your hands. What would do? Roll successfully on your dice roll and it happens. Wanna turn the ground around into lava? Done!!! Wanna turn yourself into bomb? Done!!! Wanna create a 360 degree wave fire centered on you that extends out? Done!!! Whatever you can think of.
In our large number of play tests with younger children we have found that they really enjoy the ability to do "Whatever" without having to track each variation of their special abilities.
Young adult and adult players enjoy having more freedom of choice during combat so the card system isn't the best for them. But if you have young children that are interested in playing this system works beautifully for them.
We have several goals upon experiencing a successful campaign. We realize that the goal we have set will not even begin to cover ALL of these visions we have but we are optimistic in meeting and exceeding our goal so that we can.
1) We want to begin production on the various storylines we have completed during our beta testing sessions over the last 3 years. We have several storylines that need to be developed. The Wu Crew, Tiene', The Pack Lord and Nimbus, The Left Hand of Lucifer, The Cho- Gs and so many more.
2) We want to begin hosting booths at various comic and gaming conventions throughout the 2019 season in attempts to expand our audience and fan base.
3) We want to launch at the minimum a bi-weekly video show as a means of demonstrating proper techniques to augmenting and customizing characters as well as going into more depth on the lore of Angelblood and explaining how everything ties into together.
4) We want to add community functionality on our website as a means of allowing our backers and audience a way to interact with one another as well as the development team.
Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge that we foresee with bringing our overall vision to life is the production of the graphic novels.
Our goal is to publish our communities stories while also granting creative rights to the characters to the players that create them. This of course will require that we get help with the legal jargon to create a contract whereby both Angelblood Publishing LLC and the players are protected. Prior to the publishing of our first community story we will have this issue addressed.
In the meantime the creator of Angelblood has several character story lines that can and will be published in due time.
As of now we do not have a graphic novelist on staff and need to sub-contract the work out. The cost per chapter of the graphic novels thus far has been overwhelming and we are hoping with the funds of this campaign we can begin production of our storylines.
In the event we do not have the funds to do so or we do not begin getting a consistent monthly revenue we are 100% committed to bringing these stories to life in a fantasy novel format rather than a graphic novel format so that we can begin showing the world the range of creativity and customization that our beta testers have. Challenges with completing orders from this Kickstarter:
The only challenge that we can foresee is the shipping of our products to our backers. Our partnered printers take roughly 2- 3 weeks to complete our orders. We need to wait for the orders to come in So that we can then send them out to you. This process may delay delivery of your items into the early part of December but no later than that.
The book is completed and we have delivered several copies of it already. We do have some minor edits that need to be done but we are working diligently to address those. All that is left to be determined is what expansions we will be including.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
