Angela Bacskocky and a new group of artist collaborators are launching their second conceptual line of clothing called GHOST that incorporates photography, film, music, and sculpture as part of a multi-media art project that merges fashion and fine art.
This project picks up where their debut collection, Nest, left off... The Autumn/Winter 2012 Nest collection was successfully funded through Kickstarter last April, allowing the group to show at Richmond Fashion Week and put on a gallery exhibition show that was more an art installation and performance than a fashion show.
Check out video footage of the Nest Exhibition show here:
We want to present GHOST in the same way we presented Nest, as a gallery exhibition incorporating fine art and fashion. By showing the pieces of clothing alongside the artworks that inspired them, we'll be giving context to the process and the whole story will become clear. We want the viewer to have an overwhelming sensory experience, fully understanding the concept.
Ghosts are the memories and thoughts we keep with us, everything we're holding on to, and the false memories that become real. They're floating along beside us all the time like an aura, like a burden, like a comfort. All the people and things and thoughts we can't shake, continuing to affect and influence us. It's obsession and compulsion in general and not being able to let go.
Guilt, fear, longing, nostalgia, and sentiment concentrated into some semi-solid figment of our imagination.
The silhouettes will be flowy and feminine with soft sheer layers and delicate details juxtaposed against harsh tailored lines in shades of soft greys and pale blues.
Several artists are working together to bring their own insight and perspectives to this very personal and self-exposing project. Photographers, painters, sculptors, and musicians will all contribute and share their ghosts and skeletons.
The exhibition show will include the premier of our short film inspired by the collection. A dark and touching story of obsession and despair, the film will highlight the beautiful clothing and offer one of many interpretations on the GHOST concept. The exhibition show will also include many photographic works, paintings, and sculpture made for the project as well as an installation of the clothing itself.
We need your help realizing this beautiful showcase and having the chance to offer these handmade art pieces to you. Please take a moment to donate to fund the cost of things like raw materials, exhibition expenses, and the cost of putting the garments and accessories into production so they can be sold worldwide. Please forward this along to your friends and fellow art and fashion lovers because if we don’t raise at least our goal of $4000, we don’t get anything at all. Every little bit helps and is so much appreciated.
As reward for your generous donation, you will receive precious pieces from our project and you will also have become a part of our GHOST collective, helping to merge the lines between art and fashion.

Risks and challenges
Money, time, and man power are always an issue in our studio. Every piece is completely made by hand and it's difficult to find money for materials, time to devote to the making process [without, for example, using your time to instead hold down a paying job like a responsible adult], and the physical presence and energy of skilled folks to actually pull it off.
I, personally, am very passionate about the concepts and ideas behind my line. I work every day in my studio, usually not even giving myself major holidays to relax. I've also been so fortunate to come across so many amazing artists who are willing to donate large portions of their precious time to my cause. That being said, we always fall behind. I will use every second of available time given to me to make each collection and each piece more and more amazing. This means inevitable all-nighters and a lot of grand ideas that end up getting cut at the last minute.
Just know that I'm giving 1000%. The show WILL go on and WILL be amazing. I'll always be late, but there will be quality when I arrive.
This is our second Kickstarter project and we learned so much the first time! Please be patient with us and I'm sure it'll all turn out beautifully :)))Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
