June 12: Just over one week to go! I am amazed at the power of Kickstarter to connect new eyes to my artwork. To date, 2/3 of my backers are people I have never met.
Kickstarter has a fantastic "behind the scenes" Dashboard function that is accessible to project creators. It tracks how many times the video has been played, what percentage of those plays are completed. It shows where my backers are coming from on the internet, and what searches they used to find my project. Many have used the Advanced Search function for Art/Painting to browse a smaller pool of projects. This is important because as of today, my project is one of 5,076 currently running.
In this final week I hope to continue the trend. Please help me do this by sharing my link with your network. Thank you!!!!
May 27: Thanks to Jennifer Globush, a talented Photographer, Painter and Printmaker, and fellow Gullkistan Artist in Residence last year. She took the pic of me painting in Iceland that I used in the video.
May 24: Thanks for getting me this far along so quickly! My Kickstarter goal is met, but I still have a way to go to meet my $5,000 budget.

I'm incredibly excited about going back to Iceland. I've been accepted into a 6 week painting residency at Listhus, in the North of the island, in winter.
I'm told that the winter days in the North are illuminated by the brilliant carpet of snow that reflects and scatters the daylight. So even on cloudy days the shadows are enlivened and darkness is dispelled.
Olafsfjordur is surrounded by mountains, like Kerahnjukur, which rises up behind the town, and Osbrekkufjall, facing the town from across the fjord. I'll be observing, sketching and painting the local landscape every day.
I'll bring materials to do acrylic paintings up to 24 x 24 inches, and I will also be equipped to make woodcuts both large and small. To see my current woodcuts and prints, click here. See more of my paintings from Iceland here.
The work I produce at my Listhus residency will be exhibited in Philadelphia in the Spring of 2015, and some of my KS sponsors will have first choice of that work.
All of the money I raise with this campaign will be spent on direct expenses relating to my 6 week residency. Airfare, residency cost and car rental will cost about $4,000. Add another $1,000 for Kickstarter costs (matting, framing and shipping) and possibly some food and that's $5,000 of out-of-pocket expenses.
Remember, with Kickstarter, the funds are not released (your credit card is not charged) until the goal is reached, so I have set my target pretty low.

Risks and challenges
With a successful Kickstarter campaign under my belt, I have a proven track record of delivering on my promises. My sponsors will have an ample selection of new work to choose from. I will do everything I can to make sure every sponsor is fully satisfied with the artwork they receive, and happy with their decision to participate in this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
