Thank you so much!
We did it!
AndoCon 2018 is officially off to a rocking start and it's all because of YOU!
Not only did we hit our funding goal, but we also went a fair bit above it, making AndoCon even better than in the past. We are all looking forward to seeing you in March!
What is AndoCon?
AndoCon is a 3-day gaming convention in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be held Friday thru Sunday, March 9th-11th, 2018 at the Atlanta Marriott Peachtree Corners. This is our fifth convention and we’re dedicated to making it bigger and better than the first four. And you can be part of that!
AndoCon focuses on gaming and the geeky life. We specialize in tabletop gaming of all sorts -- board games, card games, roleplaying games – combining these with a variety of other events and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to create an enjoyable experience for everyone.
If you’d like to attend, simply buy a badge and come game and hang out with us in March. Badge prices will go up after the Kickstarter. Plus, there are things you can get now through the Kickstarter that won’t be available later. Finally, by pledging to the Kickstarter, you can help build the AndoCon community now, which will make for a better convention for everyone later!
Important Post-Kickstarter Note: You can buy badges even after the Kickstarter is over. Check out the AndoCon website for more information.
What Can I Do at AndoCon?
There are many ways to get your Ando on at AndoCon. Here’s just some of what’s going on.
- Play board games and card games
- Play roleplaying games, including D&D Adventurer’s League
- Attend game shows, courtesy of Florida Whammy Entertainment
- Meet and game with our special guests
- Shop the dealer room with games and other great stuff for purchase
- Participate in gaming and geek life panels
- Attend special events (TBD)
- Attend a live recording of the NerdBurger Podcast, where you can even get on the mic and share your geekiness with everyone.
Why We’re Using Kickstarter
For three years, AndoCon got a great rate at its former venue, in part because we were new to the local gaming scene. We’ve grown, and that’s a good thing. But it also means we needed to find a new venue, which we have. And now that AndoCon is bigger than ever, the cost to rent space at a great venue is higher.
Additionally, being bigger and better incurs additional behind-the-scenes, organizational costs. And it costs money to bring back to AndoCon some of the great guests and events we’ve all enjoyed in the past.
Getting funds locked into place earlier is absolutely essential to being able to set up and run everything as smoothly as possible, which in turn will give you a better experience.
So who are these special guests we talk about? Here’s who we have on the slate right now. More will be added as we square things away with folks.
- Kevin Lanzing, designer of the Flashpoint: Fire Rescue board game, recently featured on Wil Wheaton’s Tabletop series
- David Lupo, designer of the Addictive Alchemy card game
- Craig Campbell, designer of the Murders & Acquisitions RPG
- Derek Kamal, designer of The Dig RPG and author of Homes
- James Dawsey of Vigilance Press and creator of the Tianxia RPG
- Jason Stone, board game designer, creator of (among others) Five Golden Rings
- Marco Leon, designer of the Enter the Shadowside RPG
- Sean Patrick Fannon, designer of of many RPGs, including Savage RIFTS and Shaintar
- And more to come...
AndoCon prides itself on supporting local, indie game developers. Several of our special guests are from the Atlanta area.
$7700 - Sean Patrick Fannon - UNLOCKED!
Sean Patrick Fannon will be at AndoCon 2018. Sean has been at the convention before and we are thrilled to bring him down to Atlanta again. He’ll run at least one special event and certainly do a bunch of other cool game stuff.
$8100 - Mystery Guest - LOCKED
Who will it be? We don't know yet. But trust us. We'll find someone cool. Even if we don't hit this stretch goal, we'll try very hard to bring even more great guests to the convention.
The more hotel rooms we fill up, the better deal we get on renting the space for the convention itself. This frees up funds to be put into other things to make the convention bigger and better.
As more backers take backer levels or add-ons that fill up hotel rooms, we’ll track that info and add things to AndoCon. So, if you’d like the complete experience, morning to night, grab a room at the hotel. If you’d prefer to book your stay through the hotel’s website to get your Marriott Rewards, do it during the Kickstarter. Just make sure to tell them your reservation is for AndoCon! We can check with the hotel to see how many other people have booked for the convention and figure that info into the Hotel Goals.
One “Hotel Day” is a hotel room purchased for one night. If you stay in the hotel for two nights, that’s two “Hotel Days.”
- 51 Hotel Days - LOCKED – AndoCon signature drink special available at the hotel. (alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties available)
Important Post-Kickstarter Note: Hotel goals continue to be a thing we're shooting for, even after the Kickstarter ends. Booking a room at the hotel will help us get a better price to rent the venue, which will free up funds to make the convention bigger and better.
Basic hotel features include:
- Check in: 3:00 pm
- Check out: 12:00 pm
- Complimentary on-site parking
- 1 King or 2 Double beds available
- High-speed wireless internet ($9.95/day)
- Cable TV with premium movie channels
- On-site fitness center, pool, and restaurants
- Room service
- Visit the hotel website for more information.
The backer levels describe the main ways to contribute to AndoCon (and the rewards to be had). Here are some things you can add on to your backer pledge. Simply increase your pledge by the amount listed for each item below. You can purchase multiple add-ons. Total all the add-on costs and add that total to your pledge level cost. When the Kickstarter is over, you’ll receive a backer survey and will be able to let us know what add-ons that extra pledge money is for.
Important Post-Kickstarter Note: The dice bags and fidget spinners will also be available for purchase at AndoCon.
Two Nights at the Hotel
If you chose the $70 VIG pledge level and want to stay at the hotel, add $190 to your pledge.
You do NOT need to add this on if you selected the $225 3-Day-Badge and Hotel Room backer level.
You can also use this add-on if you want to book any ADDITIONAL rooms for two nights, for example, if you’re buying badges and rooms for friends or family members as well as yourself.
One Night at the Hotel
If you want to add Saturday night at the hotel to your pledge, increase your pledge by $95.
You can also use this add-on if you want to book an ADDITIONAL room on Saturday night, for example, if you’re buying badges and rooms for friends or family members as well as yourself.
One Additional 3-Day Badge
Add $20 to your pledge to purchase one additional 3-day badge. If you are buying badges on behalf of friends or family members, this is the add-on for you.
One Additional 2-Day Badge
Add $15 to your pledge to purchase one additional 2-day badge (Saturday/Sunday). If you are buying badges on behalf of friends or family members, this is the add-on for you.
AndoCon Dice Bag
A handy dice bag with the AndoCon logo is perfect for showing your support for the convention and making your friends super-duper jealous. If you'd like a dice bag, add $20 to your pledge.
AndoCon Fidget Spinner
Add $5 to your pledge if you'd like to snag a fidget spinner with the AndoCon logo on it.

If you are being harassed, witness harassing behavior, or have any concerns while you are attending AndoCon, please contact a member of our staff immediately. We want you to feel safe in your experience with AndoCon. We value not just your attendance but your wellbeing and happiness. Thank you for letting us fulfill your gaming needs.
Risks and challenges
This is our fifth convention and the guy running this Kickstarter has done it before. Schedulers are scheduling. Organizers are organizing. We’ve made this happen before and it will happen again in March of 2018.
The only real issue is how smoothly the run-up to the convention will go. We shall endeavor to provide as much information as we can here and at AndoCon.org following the Kickstarter. And we’ll do everything we can to make AndoCon 2018 everything you’d expect from your friendly, local gaming convention.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
