A Solid Marble Timepiece with Swiss Parts - The Mason Watch!
We are a small team with a big passion for nature and merging both art and design. What was once an art school design project became our first collection which we launched on Kickstarter in 2013. Now we're back! We aim to create unisex timepieces that are more than just functional, but also conversation pieces.
With your early support today, we'll use the funds to begin the production of this collection.
Since we use natural materials, no two watches are alike. Our love for the outdoors runs deep, that's why we choose to differentiate ourselves by exploring all natural materials.
We see a watch industry dominated by plastics, metals, and alloys - but we want to craft items that are not only earth friendly, but made from materials that remind one to be patient, take time, and enjoy the moment.
We knew we wanted a classic circle, but we also wanted to offer something a bit more striking. The hexagon shape is inspired by forms found in nature, such as in honeycomb, pineapples, and snowflakes.
The Mason Watch is not only a technological feat in terms of engineering and production, but it's rich in its concept and materiality. Unlike most other watches on the market, we don't cover the dial with a logo or mar the face with chunky markings. We want the marbles unique patterning to shine, so have stripped the watch down to it's essentials.
Making such a new and unique product hasn't been easy. We're proud to be the first to make both a watch body and watch dial out of solid marble. This means every single watch is one-of-a-kind. It took us almost 16 months of trial and error to get it right.
We began by trying to identify manufacturing partners - after months of constantly being told it couldn't be done, we found two who were willing to experiment and so we began to work together.
Through multiple rounds and iterations, we've tested and perfected the internal and external structure. We produce the watch through a variety of processes such as molding, polishing, water jet cutting, machining, and careful assembly.
We've also partnered with a local leathersmith to bring our backers the perfect strap.
To create a quality product both inside and out, we chose a high quality Swiss Made movement. The internal analog quartz crystal movement features five jewels, which gives added precision accuracy. The entire movement is gold plated, now that's attention to detail! Our premium components come with a Swiss battery with a life of about 40 months.
The parts and components are standard for the watch industry, so any jeweler or watch repair shop will be able to replace the battery or make standard repairs.
We wanted a design that could be flexible to your individual style, so we developed our own case back and locking mechanism which allows you to easily swap out the strap without any tools. This is strap type is called a zulu or nato strap - so if you choose, you can even buy 3rd party straps.
Please pledge an extra $26 per each additional strap you want to add. At the end of the campaign you will have the option to choose gold or silver hardware to match your selected styles.
Our straps are hand crafted by the most skilled leathersmiths we could find: members of the Amish community right here in Pennsylvania. We are using a high quality top grain leather.

Risks and challenges
We are experienced with crowdfunding and manufacturing watches from difficult materials—so we have taken necessary steps to ensure efficient and timely delivery of the highest quality rewards.
With backgrounds in—product design, supply chain management, branding, and marketing—we believe our project will exceed your expectations.
We realize that creating and delivering a product is a complicated process that can have unforeseen snags. Which is why we have been preparing! Throughout the production process, we will keep our backers informed of our milestone achievements. This will include packaging proofs and the debut of watches fresh off the line. If we encounter setbacks that affect our timeline, we will maintain transparency in our updates.
We are absolutely committed to the element of surprise - in both our design practice and our efforts to mitigate risk. We have spent the past year ensuring our supply chain is in check, establishing strong working relationships with reliable partners, and have an existing method for fulfilling and processing the rewards.
We feel a great deal of creative pressure to come through for our supporters as they help us pursue our ambitious goals! This has compelled us to implement a strategy that has us prepared for any issues that could arise during production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
