About this project

Thank you for taking the time to check out our Kickstarter page. We truly appreciate all of the support!
We have spent the last year working on an all-natural flexible wooden watch. This started out as a material exploration which led to sketching out designs, researching and experimenting with different woods, building prototype after prototype by hand, then working with various suppliers and a manufacturer to develop the final designs. All of which will be offered exclusively on Kickstarter!
Midway during the campaign, we began to offer the watch with markings on the face as an upgrade option. This is NOT reflected in the reward tiers to the right, so to add this upgrade, you must add an additional $10 per watch to your pledge. Scroll below for more info!
Iteration & Experimentation
We found that other companies were heavily branding their watches and some using clunky wooden links. We knew we wanted a wooden watch that stood out from what's already out there. We decided it was worth our time to experiment and push wood into a new direction!
To achieve a clean and uncluttered design, we stripped away any of the unnecessary details so the natural beauty of the material would be the focus.
We iterated the shape and form until we arrived at a design that we loved and felt was a classic and iconic form. This is the first wooden watch made with this unique process that allows the wood to become truly flexible!
Our initial method of prototyping involved using a computer automated laser cutter to cut out rings which we stacked and adhered wood veneer to. This worked well for proving the concept, but we knew we wanted something sturdy and strong, so we moved towards a solid hardwood body.
To do this, we use a Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine to precisely carve out the interior and the exterior of the watch body.
Our design is 90% biodegradable!
We know what kind of effect metals, alloys, and plastics have on the environment. We've done everything we could to limit those materials so you can feel good about being earth friendly.
Figuring Out Production
We sought out multiple manufacturers and finally settled on one that had experience with wood working as well as watch assembly.
Working together, the design began to meet assembly standards. We spent months working back and fourth iterating on the finalized design.
The process of working so closely with our manufacturer allowed us to test and retest the wood choices. We wanted to pick species that were beautiful and most suitable to this flexible application.
These are the final wood veneers:
The Final Designs
So - why should you want more than one watch?
Our watch bodies and straps were designed to be interchangeable! Our core models are above - but this doesn't stop you from mixing and matching on your own!
By simply removing the screws on the case back - you can create your own combinations!
- Pick The Half Collection reward tier and you have 4 combinations
- Pick The Trio reward tier and you have 9 different combinations
- Pick The Carpenter Collection tier and you have 16 combinations!

We Need Your Support!
Your support has been the driving force to push this forward. We have reached our funding goal - but still need support so we can grow and hit different stretch goals!
Our reach only goes so far beyond our networks. Liking us on Facebook or sending a few quick emails to friends and family can go a long way to help us ensure success!
We hope that you love our watches as much as we do and pledge your support in order to receive one of the very first production models from The Carpenter Collection by Analog Watch Co!
Risks and challenges
We realize creating and delivering a product is complicated process and often comes with unexpected hiccups. That is why we have been preparing.
We have spent the past 9 months making sure our supply chain is in check, that we have a well established relationship working with a reliable manufacturer, and that we are prepared to deal with managing fulfillment of goods and processing of rewards.
We are going to keep our backers informed during the production process. We'll do this with images and periodic updates of the new milestones we hit, such as final packaging images or watches fresh off the line! If somewhere along the way we find that there is a setback in production, or that we can not make the timeline, we will be as transparent as possible to keep all of our backers informed.
There is also the creative pressure of not wanting to let down our supporters! This has compelled us to prepare and implement a plan and a strategy that we think mitigates many of the issues that could arise during production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
At the end of the campaign, November 10th 2013, there is a two week window where we collect information from our backers.
We'll send you a Kickstarter survey asking which styles you want and where you want the rewards shipped. This helps us ensure we have the correct address on file and allows us to get a count of how many of each style we need to have produced.
The $85 reward tier says "the next 100 backers get a watch of their choice..." but I see a different number displayed as inventory?
We can not change the text accompanying a reward tier once it's been backed by at least 1 person. We can though, update the quantity of a certain reward.
We have found that this is a very comfortable level for backers - and because of the success of the campaign so far - we are able to secure more goods at a better cost to us - hence us being able to offer more of the $85 reward.
These will eventually all be gone and be unavailable. So jump on now!
A few days after the campaign we'll send out an official Kickstarter survey to collect what styles you want, where to ship, etc.
You click the green button up top to add or manage your pledge. From there, remain in your selected reward tier and increase the dollar amount by $10.00 per watch.
So, if you
pledge $85 - change it manually to $95 for the upgrade - but do not change your reward tier.
You must add $10.00 per watch, so if you are getting multiples - factor $10 per watch.
