As an independent design studio driven by creativity - we wanted to combine our love for wine with our focus on using natural materials in totally new ways.
Wine works as dye because it contains chromogens, a pigment producing substance abundant in wines. Tannins, which come from fruit skins & seeds are what cause the pigment to bind to surfaces such as fabric, cork, & your teeth!
We've perfected a dying & stabilization technique using both red wine & blueberry wine. The process is pretty intensive, the blueberry wine really proved to be particularly challenging, but after a year of trial & error we've developed a process that turns the wine into a highly rich liquid concentrate that we use to dye the bands. We also offer a natural, black, & white cork band. We do all of this right here in our Philadelphia studio. Don't worry, we don't submerge the cases in wine... we just thought that made for a pretty unique set of photos!
Using cork just made sense. Cork harvesting is a sustainable process & does not harm the oak cork trees. The top layer of our bands are treated for durability while the bottom layer is a premium quality vegan leather.
We've partnered with the Cork Forest Conservation Alliance on this project. The CFCA campaigns globally for the protection & preservation of cork forests, its inhabitants & biodiversity, through education, direct action, & partnerships with communities, businesses, & governments.
Together, we believe that teaching & promoting sustainability is the best way to systematically approach & solve the many complex environmental challenges facing society today.
Over the last 5 years we've launched a number of unique timepieces. This means we've been able to build strong relationships with our suppliers & manufacturing partners so that we ultimately can extend our cost savings to you.
We've previously used real flowers, moss, marble, & wood in our timepieces. We've always been obsessed with nature & minimalism - it's evident in all the work we produce. With the launch of this project, we are excited to be adding grapes, blueberry, & cork to the line up!
Our customers have told us consistently over the years that our watches are serious conversation starters - which is why we boldly offer a 100% compliment guarantee. :)
We began by soaking anything we could find in wine - paper, leather, plastics, beads, anything! We can't reveal too much, but the methods we use definitely involve drinking copious amounts of wine & exploring tannins and different staining techniques.
The red color from cabernet was relatively easy to achieve. It was the blueberry wine that required a lot of trial & error to ensure we could synthesize a highly concentrated colorant from it that turned cork a blue color instead of a bright purple.
We are a small studio founded because of Kickstarter backers like you! You can see more of our work here.
We began in 2013 with a concept - to remind people of nature, every day. We do this by including beautiful organic materials in our designs. We chose watches because they are worn daily & are an expression of who you are & what you believe in.
In terms of design, we try to strip away the distractions & highlight the natural materials. We love nature just as much as we appreciate clean design, which is why we don't include a logo on the face of any of our watches.
To our previous backers, thank you so much for your continued support over the years. It's been such a journey, & quite honestly, the most stressful fun we've ever had!
If you are new to Kickstarter - this is how it works: first you choose a reward tier at the top right of the page. Once the campaign ends, we send out an official backer reward survey to find out which watches or bands you want.
Our bands are made from durable animal-free leather & real, natural cork. The surface of our red & blue bands have been dyed with real wine & treated for incredible durability. The tan, black, & white bands are not dyed - but still feature genuine cork. The best part? We've included a quick release spring bar which allows you to swap out bands without the use of any tools.
That's right, if you get extra bands you can mix & match.
The buckles on the band will match the specific watch case color you choose.
Below are a few examples of the combined style options if you add on an extra band.
- Movement: Premium Citizen Miyota 2035

Unisex & Water Resistant Design - One Year Manufacturing Warranty
Since we already put a partial deposit down with our suppliers for our first edition run, production will actually be complete the same week the campaign ends! How's that for fast!
With the funds we raise, our supplier will be able to release the first 700 watch bodies & 1100 bands as soon as we get them the remaining balance.
We expect we will be able to ship 500 or more watches within 3 weeks after the campaign ends. We ordered 700 cases & 1000 band combos, but ultimately we don't know what styles will be most popular, so will have to wait & see how it goes.
If the campaign goes really well - we'll take an early survey to determine popular styles and begin a 2nd production round. Those watches should deliver 2 months later.
Risks and challenges
This is our 5th campaign, so we know exactly what to expect! We have a history of manufacturing watches from difficult materials—so we have taken necessary steps to ensure efficient & timely delivery of the highest quality rewards.
With backgrounds in product design, supply chain management, branding, & marketing, we know our project will exceed your expectations.
We feel a great deal of creative pressure to come through for our supporters as they help us pursue our ambitious goals! This has compelled us to implement a strategy that has us prepared for any issues that could arise during production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
