In 2005 I began photographing my hometown of Buckeye, Arizona. Buckeye is a farming community outside of Phoenix and is one of the places most affected by the recent housing boom. There was a 678% population increase from 2000 to 2010; from 6,500 people to 50,000, in what felt like an instant. Housing developments and strip malls were popping up like weeds and farms and desert were disappearing. There was no time to keep up with the rapid change so I began to photograph, trying to freeze time. 'Coming Home' will be an 8x10 soft cover book with text and a collection of images that I feel best convey the story I'm trying to tell of my hometown. I hope to self publish this book, making it available to the people of Buckeye and anyone else who can relate.
