This Philadelphia Fringe Festival, join a groupie backstage at a rock show, a newspaper blowing in the wind, a dental hygienist from Tacoma, and Napoleon Bonaparte as they explore what it means to be a young woman in 2012.
We are currently raising $500 for our production of NAPOLEON PRINCESS GROUPIE NEWSPAPER by Amy Frear and directed by Chelsea Sanz. We are excited about producing this show about young women finding strength through the power of telling stories, rock and roll, inanimate objects, and French historical figures.
Proceeds will benefit things like building costumes and props, compensating artists, and handling other costs we meet along the way ("So we'll need a fresh steak for every performance?" "Exactly how much blood needs to be pouring out of her clothes?"). We have been lucky enough to have many talented and generous Philly folk donate their time and space up until this point, but we need a bit more help to insure this show gets the production value it deserves --- and hopefully this creative team will be able to build a foundation for future collaborations and projects here in Philadelphia.
Starring Jessie Bennett (Princess), Amy Frear (Napoleon), Amanda Kearns (Groupie), Merci Lyons-Cox (Newspaper) and Harry Slack (Old Shoe). Costumes by Preesa Adeline Bullington. Stage management by Ryan Pollock.
NPGN will be performed at the Laurie Beechman Cabaret in the Arts Bank on Broad and South Street in Philadelphia, PA. The show runs September 8-10 with multiple shows a day and ticket prices of just $5. Tickets and more information are available here.
Thank you for supporting young, local artists. We are excited to bring this adventurous new show to Philadelphia. Thank you from all of us at NAPOLEON PRINCESS GROUPIE NEWSPAPER!
