About this project
Are these cool or what? Huh?
Growing up in my dad's lawnmower shop we often made our own tools and parts. It was in that shop that I learned how to use hand and power tools. I no longer repair mowers, but I still enjoy creating things with my hands and making people smile.
I got started making bullet casing jewelry because I wanted to share an interest with my wife who makes beaded jewelry. When I came up with the idea for Ammo-Wear we knew it was a perfect fit because I could create something unique and interesting and my wife and I could do it together. So now Patricia and I are creating smiles together as we introduce Ammo-Wear everywhere we go.
Handcrafted in America + 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
I make all the jewelry myself, cutting and assembling everything by hand. My first earrings were made from 45 ACP casings I saved after shooting my grandfather’s Colt Model 1917 revolver that he used in France during WWI. Check it out, there's 9 notches on the bottom of the grip. And if you think that’s cool, look for the special 1917 reward just for you.
How we do it
All Ammo-Wear jewelry is made from spent (used) casings. Primers are removed and the casings and primers are thoroughly cleaned in an ultra sonic cleaner to remove all carbon and powder residue. The casing head (bottom) is cut off, sanded and tumbled to remove all sharp edges before assembly. The birthstones used to add bling are all Swarovski crystals. When complete each piece is then polished and any leftover scrap is recycled.
Does your jewelry make a statement?
“Jewelry with an attitude,” “bullet bling,” “awesome,” “unique,” “edgy,” “cool,” “tight,” “sick," "bad ass," these are all adjectives we’ve heard when people see our jewelry. Yeah, occasionally we hear, “I don’t like guns,” but those are far and few in between. Wherever we go, Ammo-Wear is well received with smiles and compliments for the quality and it's uniqueness. There is no doubt you too will get tons of compliments on your Ammo-Wear jewelry wherever you go, and yes, your girlfriends will be jealous. As you can see we have a variety of rewards to choose from so we're confident that at least one of them will make you smile. OK guys, that’s a hint, your special lady will love a pair of Ammo-Wear earrings, a pendant or bracelet.
Speaking of smiles, our desire is to spread 1000 smiles across the web in 30 days and this is where you, the Kickstarter community comes in. Only by partnering with us thru your pledges and the sharing of our project with everyone you know can we attain this goal of 1000 rewards to 1000 people thus creating 1000 smiles.
Inside Every Woman is an Ammo-Girl
Whether you’re a cowgirl, biker chick, GI Jane or everyday Jane, we believe that inside every woman IS an Ammo-Girl. Our youngest Ammo-Girl (that we know of) is 10 and the oldest is 90 years young. And there is every age, size and color in between. Take a peek at some of the photos on our FB Page: www.facebook.com/ammowear.
A Kickstarter First!
Yes, we've all seen Early Funder Rewards. BUT, NOT LIKE THIS ONE! We will ship all Early Funder rewards immediately. Yes, even before we fund! That means almost no waiting for your Ammo-Wear Jewelry because you will not have to wait until the project ends. Yoohoo!
All pledges help and are greatly appreciated. Your participation will help us complete our website to bring even more smiles to other people's faces. Pledges will be used to purchase more supplies (casings, findings and other components), buy new equipment (industrial size ultra sonic cleaner, and 2 large rotary tumblers). And if we double our goal we'll be able to complete our social media implementation and trademark process. What happens if we quadruple our goal? Then we get a Mac Book to replace our ancient, 6 year old laptop and an iPad to track sales and run credit cards. If we quintuple our goal we will buy a hydraulic press and at $6000 we get a jump start on our clothing line.
And you know what else would help? As soon as you receive your new Ammo-Wear jewelry put it on, snap a picture of yourself wearing it and post it on your Facebook page and/or make it your profile picture so everyone can see how great you look. Be sure to like our Facebook page so we can see too:)
p.s. Please Like, tweet and help spread the word about Ammo-Wear. We would really appreciate it.

Risks and challenges
Risks are minimal. We funded everything out of pocket and from previous sales. I've purchased several thousand empty casings in advance to have on hand for the project which should be more than enough. The greatest risk would be a delay in delivery if our jewelry suppliers run out of any of the components needed for assembly during the project. To help alleviate that risk we have already stocked up on these items enough to cover anticipated pledges. If at any time we feel pledges will exceed our inventory we will place additional orders.
The rewards for Early Funders are already made and ready to ship as soon as we get mailing addresses.
The challenges will be making and shipping all the rewards should this project reach 1000 backers, but we already have experience making large quantities in short periods of time and are confident we can do so in the 90 days we've allotted. The other challenge may be if we get higher than anticipated requests for a specific caliber and finish. Concerned with the current shortage of ammo and casings we've set up several different sources for casings. Hopefully, these combined sources will be able to supply what we need if necessary.
