The parables of Jesus don’t demand; they inspire. They inspire us toward the greatest heights of human potential: generosity, patience, love, forgiveness, wisdom, eternal hope and so much more. We'd like to bring these parables to life through the powerful medium of film. We’re recasting Jesus’ stories for the world we live in using some of today's best filmmakers and on-screen talent.
The Return is a parable that tells the story of a father’s love that doesn’t quit, even when his son rebels, disowns his father and skips town. It’s about a particular father and son, but it is also the story of us all – how we crave unconditional love, forgiveness and the welcoming grace of a father’s open arms.

With $200,000, we can help produce a world-class short film based on the parable of the prodigal son that would reach millions of people through our networks and distribution channels. Not only will this single film change lives, inspiring forgiveness and restoring relationships, but it will also open the door for us to create many more Parables films in this series. The more of these stories we can tell, the more lives we can touch with these powerful, eternal themes. Will you help us share these stories?
The Return is a parable. But it is also your story. Maybe you’ve been the son. Maybe you’ve been the older brother or the father. No matter where you fit into the story, it has the ability to offer truth, hope and forgiveness. And now, by supporting the Parables Film Series, you have the opportunity to share that with the world.
We – as an organization and individuals – believe that the parables in the New Testament contain good news. We think they have the power to change lives and transform hearts. And we are committed to telling the story.

Risks and challenges
We believe that powerful stories deserve to be told well. But bringing A-list talent, an experienced writer/director and producer onto the project isn't easy or cheap. We will need to navigate all of the realities of a large-scale production, including coordinating locations and schedules for a film crew. We intend to use A-list talent, but it will be a challenge to schedule time to work with them in the next 6 months. It will also be expensive. That's why we need your help right here on Kickstarter.
We plan to distribute the film primarily through emerging and experimental mediums, including social media and personal networks. New methods of distribution always involve some level of risk, but we are also excited about the opportunity to reach new and larger audiences through these channels.
At the end of the day, we're confident that our vision for the story will bring enough funding to make the project a success.
