Risks and challenges
The joy and excitement of traveling is accompanied by the challenge of surviving on a continuous trip without a secure bed every night. We plan to travel minimally, taking advantage of the downtimes of the train. But we understand that to make provisions to sleep, it may mean resting on the train, couch surfing or other sorts of hospitality. The two of us have a history of making day-long excursions to neighboring east coast cities, so we understand the potential of how much of the city we can experience in one day. Not to mention, we're young.
Some potential backers may be curious about the exact content of our research on American architecture and culture, particularly the research documented in the book. At this moment, the research remains vague but open-minded, allowing the context of our visits to offer some sort of direction for our publication. This open subject-matter includes an established range of media (photography, writing, and sketches). All images in this Kickstarter have been produced by our hand, so composition and graphic language should be no issue. Although this lack of specificity may come off as a risk for those receiving copies of our book, the surprise of the content allows us to share the element of discovery on our educational journey. It's good to remember that we're traveling as graduating architecture students.. but our interest is not limited to the field of architecture.
