Did someone say chocolate? YES! Sushumna Chocolat is a new, artfully crafted, artisanal collection created by two great friends who met on a spiritual quest to India. Co-founders Amity Cooper and Sally Belk combined their knowledge of food, fashion, design, and yoga by turning their passions into culinary creations that are sweet, unique and delicious.
The word Sushumna is Indian in origin and refers to the "super highway" of energy (prana) that flows up and down the spine. There are seven doorways along this highway called chakras. It is said that the body comes into balance and energy flows easily as each chakra is opened. Sushumna Chocolat co-founders Amity Cooper and Sally Belk spent well over a year carefully examining the nature of each chakra. The result? Seven uniquely flavored chocolates, each representing one of the sushumna doorways.
Each of these seven foundational flavors were developed to represent each chakra's characteristic. These medleys combine spices and exotic, natural flavors with dark, white and milk chocolate. And while they make no medical claims, Amity and Sally want you to pause and ponder each doorway--each bridge--each chakra--as your tongue moves over the Sushumna Chocolat of your choice. We have already introduced ourselves to the media at large. We've sent 200 gift-boxed sets to national and international editors, writers, and the best culinary and style bloggers. The press has been talking about Sushumna Chocolat and spreading the word.

As a product developer and food writer, respectively, we have had our share of stops and starts--even stall-outs. Some of the toughest challenges are coordinating our production with the presumed levels of demand. To meet the demand, we have a fantastic relationship with our chocolate factory. Over these next 60 days, we will be working diligently on production schedules, quality control and fulfillment processes--to you, our wonderful and fabulous backers.
Since my background is in manufacturing and production, I am comfortable with these goals. Sally comes from a food background and is very familiar with coordinating with the R & D department of our factory to ensure that what we have developed actually gets delivered to your doorstep.
Our next task will be to broaden and complete our website shop site. This is a huge endeavor that has and continues to take many hours of planning and execution. We have an amazing creative team and expect to produce a unique, online shopping experience that reflects our brand aesthetic with clarity.
Sushumna Chocolat is our creation. From its inception to now, it has been over two years in the making. We're pleased and thrilled to have made it this far. Now, its up to the public to determine if our idea is worth its weight in chocolate. We believe it is and we hope that you do too.
However, it takes more than a kickstarter project to launch a company. That's where our fabulous publicist comes into play. She and our sales team have and continue to put in numerous hours towards building awareness, buzz and our public persona. It is a huge job to produce and sponsor tasting events, push our product through various social media sites and promote our product throughout the busiest season of the confection year---The Holidays.
