To thank everybody for their support of this project, we (that's not the royal We - I operate under the instructions of Roo Beker) are adding an additional postcard for all backers. The new one will be a beautiful print of the best image of Roo ever. So - THANKS!
BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING:
Anyone can have a hard time finding their way. When a trail is blazed in the forest, flashes of paint are traditionally brushed on trees to help you stay on the path - as long as you can spot a blaze, you'll be okay. As the blazes weather and age, blend with the bark and fade away, they morph into beautiful little accidental paintings.
I'll send you postcards of the blazes I find in November and December of 2014 as I hike with my dog in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Until you can get out on the trail yourself, perhaps these might help you imagine the path that lies ahead.
They'll be printed on the best acid-free card stock paper available (88 lb. Polar Matte Magnum) and mailed as soon as the campaign ends (mid through end December, 2014). Each will be a small artwork designed to connect you to the woods, wherever you may be, appearing in your mailbox the way the blaze would appear to you out on the trail.
Since I don't have a project video, I thought I'd include one of my dog dreaming, since she'll be there every time I shoot a blaze for you. I hope you don't mind. You can see what she's up to, and more pictures and video at our web site, The Dog in the Clouds.
Risks and challenges
The risks in this project are limited to air catastrophes that might interrupt postal service or cataclysmic weather events that could swoop down and freeze Roo and me in the hollow of a tree trunk to be found by hikers 10,000 years from now.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
