Three day countdown!
The Dog Coffee Book is a story about dogs and their owners. In it you'll meet a variety of dog breeds and a diverse group of owners. Our focus is showing that every dog and every person can be a good owner!
A word from the artist:
"Dog Coffee" was created one not-so-quiet morning while I was working from home. I live in a small neighborhood with tons of great dogs. But on this morning, every dog within ear shot was barking away as if they had countless things to say and just couldn't hold back. I kept wishing they'd get it all out of their system and then things would get quiet. My mind started to wander through this idea of dogs getting together for coffee and chatting. After a few sketches and talks with friends, the idea became a children's book idea.
What do we plan to do with the money?
The money we raise will be specifically for test printing, copyright and marketing fees, and publishing costs. Our goal amount should be enough to cover the start up. From there we hope to use self-sustaining publishing options that keep the costs low and require few printing fees.
Our current printing goal is to offer the book in a 24 to 32 page, full-color, bookstore quality, soft-cover print.
Why only set the goal at $950?
Both the artist and author feel strongly that this book shouldn't be about profits. None of the reward is intended to cover already invested costs. It's purely to create a small pool for a printing batch and fee buffer, editing costs, and to cover pledge rewards.
What happens if we get over our goal?
The long-term goal is that this book will be the introduction to a series. Dog Coffee is intended to be a young reader book that will introduce each dog and their families. The next book will be about the families and is designed to celebrate diversity in dog ownership. The belief that anyone can be a good dog owner plays a key role in the writing.
Our second book will be focused around introducing the dog's owners and their families. We'd love to get enough funding to push through this second book. In it we talk about the value of owners from every background and how they all make their dog's lives special in unique and special ways.

Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge right now is finding the best printing and publishing options. Our goal is to find the perfect balance between cost and quality. As this is for children, getting a durable and kid-resistant book printed will be very important. Right now we are exploring options for both physical and electronic printing. We'd love to get into the e-book markets but as first-time authors it is all very new.
Things that are important to us:
1. Communication. We will keep you updated. Frequent and reliable updates matter. We know that and will stick by it. Updates won't stop once the project is successful.
2. Meeting our rewards deadlines. You had faith in our project, now it's our job to communicate often and get your rewards to you promptly and accurately. In the unlikely event of a printing issue, everyone will get their digital copy right away and notified of our print delays and expected new print shipping dates.
3. Quality. We set the reward dates for a few months from now. We want to be able to ensure that the formatting of the digital copy is solid and that we have time to get the printed copies back and ready for shipping before the due date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
