I will now include 35 of my own recipes, plus the 5 recipes submitted by backers, plus the sauce/dip recipes, and the dumpling recipes. So the book is now guaranteed to have at least 40 dumpling recipes.
Hi! My name is Amanda and I am an American who has been living, writing, and cooking in China for nearly three years. China’s favored dish, the dumpling (or jiaozi in Chinese), can be found on every street corner, in every restaurant, and in every kitchen in China, but they are all pretty much prepared the same way: a bit of meat, some garlic and ginger, and a bit of vegetables if you’re lucky. Even a visit to the freezer section at any grocery store displays hundreds of packages of dumplings that all look and taste the same.
But the dumpling is so versatile! Have you ever tried stuffing a dumpling with chicken? Refried beans? Cheesecake filling? No? Hardly anyone has! My cookbook, Crazy Dumplings, takes this simple staple food and prepares it in ways you never thought possible! From buffalo chicken dumplings to pizza dumplings to apple pie dumplings, a world of foods is available to you in an easy dumpling wrapper with Crazy Dumplings.
About the Book
Crazy Dumplings will contain 30 of my original dumpling recipes plus 5 dumpling recipes submitted by backers (see rewards for details), the dumpling wrapper recipe, and several original sauce and dip recipes such as buffalo sauce, guacamole, and salsa. There are dumpling recipes for appetizers, main courses, and desserts. You could even prepare a whole Thanksgiving dinner totally out of dumplings with this book!
I have done my best to include some vegetarian recipes in this book. However, vegan or gluten-free ingredients are nearly impossible for me to get where I live. If this book reaches its goal, though, I will release a vegan & gluten-free dumpling book next year when I am back in America for holiday. Sponsors of this book will be the first to know when I start working on that future project.
What the Money Goes For
Cookbooks are crazy expensive to print due to the color pictures. The goal of $5,000 will cover:
Professional trade paperback printed copies of the book
Food (for testing and retesting recipes)
A book cover
Swag for sponsors
Shipping costs for swag and books
Kickstarter and Amazon charges (5-8% of funds raised)
$7,500 I will be able to include 5 more sponsor recipes at this level for a total of 40 dumpling recipes.
$10,000 I will be able to produce a DVD with step-by-step instructions for every dumpling recipe. I will also be able to afford a decent website with more recipes, videos, and helpful cooking tips and tricks (DVD will be available for all pledge levels at $15.00 and above).

Risks and challenges
The biggest issue will be managing the project from overseas. I live in China, but the books and swag will be sent to my mother-in-law in America. Thankfully, through the internet, I will be able to manage most of the production of the books and items online, but the actual shipping will have to be done by someone in the states. But I have an amazing mother-in-law and sister-in-law who are willing to help me out.
A personal “Thank You” on the Facebook page, website, and on the special “Contributors” page in the book. You will also be able to vote on which backer-submitted dumplings you would like to see in the book.
All previous levels’ gifts and you can submit a dumpling idea that you would like to see in the book. All submitted dumpling ideas will go to a voting round and all backers will be able to vote on the top 5 (or 10 if we reach the $7,500 level) that will make it into the book. If your dumpling idea makes it into the book, you will get credit for the idea on that dumpling’s page. (I will do this to the best of my ability. Some ingredients are impossible to get in China or won’t work in a dumpling wrapper. You can submit more than one idea so we can find one that will work.) Also, all backers at this level will get extra special recognition on the “Contributors” page in the book.
