Hello, Community :)

We hope you are all doing very well :)

Our last weeks were really stressful and packed with many new insights, developments, learnings, and achievements. You also provided so much feedback and inputs, it's astonishing. We’d like to use today’s update to keep you guys in the Amabrush loop, and we want to share some achievements with you - our precious community and early supporters :)

Longer Battery Life

With a better voltage controller, a more sophisticated standby programming, and a well-integrated circuit design, we were able to boost the battery lifetime of Amabrush from two weeks to three weeks! Yes! :)

Bluetooth integrated

We've already implemented Bluetooth LE into the Amabrush circuit board and tested it rigorously. Next steps are App-development, configuration of different modes and FCC certification.

Smaller mouthpiece

Our current and newest mouthpiece is thinner, smaller and uses 40% less material than our previous model. Furthermore, it features more and thinner bristles. It is smaller/thinner, but the important part, the cleaning area, stays the same size :)

Pilot Tester Units & Press Units

We are currently in the process to manufacture the units for our pilot tester and for the press :) Our legal department is currently checking all restrictions, requirements, and regulations which we have to observe and to consider in order to deliver the units.

Patent granted

Our patent is not pending anymore, it is granted :)

Fraud Online Shops

You spotted some fraud online shops, that “sell” our Amabrush for (very) low prices. Don’t let your friends fall into such a trap, as these online shops are clearly just interested in the money from them than in delivering anything useful. Our legal department already shut down four of them, and if you spot another online shop that pretends to sell Amabrush or something similar, then please write us an email to fake@amabrush.com - we really appreciate your help :)

Survey

Many of you already finished our survey (thank you). Some of you are still missing. If you did not receive any email with our survey right now, please check your spam folder for an email with the subject line “Survey for Kickstarter”. You can also resend the survey-invitation with this link (just enter your Kickstarter email address). And if this still does not work, please write us an email to survey@kickstarter.com (we will check if your current email address is wrongly spelled or something different happened).

Miscellaneous

We traveled a lot in the last weeks and talked with many experts, dentists, brands, and companies, in order to bring the best version of Amabrush to your bathroom. We are now advised by Deloitte in terms of legal and tax matters. We moved into a bigger office, and our team is constantly growing, as we need specialists for many areas. Development of Amabrush add-ons has already started, and our new, well-thought-out, corporate design (logo, colors, typo, etc.) is currently in the making. We will give you a sneak peek of it in the next update :)

Thank you for reading, as well as for your valuable support,

Your Amabrush Team

People beware of copies. There's a strong industry taking Kickstarter ideas and producing clones.

Looking forward to updates on amabrush.

Do you know anything about this new campaign? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ufunbrush/ufunbrush-a-fun-toothbrush-for-kids - it seems to be a rip-off of Amabrush's concept, except it's for children.

Hi Folks. I do like the newsletter and the development of "our" investment. Am I am mistaken, but the survey was more or less a marketing tool to sell more add-ons and to re-register/clearify the initial order, uhh?! I would love ❤ to find an website where we all may register and talk (write) about our upcoming experiences with the new product(s). This to give us the feeling to actively participate and to share experiences to the development team. Yours, Oliver Sehmsdorf (Switzerland)

      @Amabrush

      SUPER EXCITED!
As this is my first project to back, I'm loving following you through this process of growing your company and getting patents (CONGRATS!) and approvals.
I feel like an eager child before Christmas waiting for their goodies!

Looks like you are on schedule still and the new slimmer design looks great!

Looking forward to your next update :)

Will the smaller mouthpiece be shipped in December or will we be getting the older version?

What's most impressive here is the striving to make the Amabrush exactly right for the consumer, the first time, so that the backers aren't getting a first generation model that will soon be overshadowed by the "real" thing that ends up on retail shelves in the next year or so. Thank you Marvin, and everyone at Amabrush for embracing the concept of kaizen. As a dental hygienist my bottom line is efficacy. If it cleans as good as it needs to it's a winner for me and my patients.

    11. Rees Maxwell on

Great work in making this smaller in the mouth, but keeping the cleaning area the same size! I was worried a bit about the physical size before.

As far as corporate design updates...that's perfectly in line with a new company bringing in over 3.7 million USD. Unlike some hobbies KS projects, you're not only here to sell to us, you're here to get some seed money to make a successful product that you can sell to the world. Having a professional corporate identity will help you be successful in the market after you fulfill KS orders, and will most likely help you to acquire more VC funding should you go that way.

Looking forward to seeing the redesign.

    12. Euan Reid on

Same as @Chris Bramley, I'm a wee bit concerned about the shorter mouth piece - I'm fortunate enough to have all my wisdom teeth, and cleaning all my teeth is important to me. Great to hear about the patent and other changes though!

      @Creator,
Improvements to the mouth piece look very promising. For people like me with a really bad gag reflex, anything you can do to make it smaller is a good thing,

Also, I'm not so sure that spending time and money now on a new logo is the best use of the resources you have. I know it's fun and exciting, but keep in mind we backed your project not because of a logo.

Keep up with the detailed updates, they are greatly appreciated.

    14. Gary Byrne on

Some people are silly. @frankt@cavtel.net & @John Sand do you not read anything? First of all the website is called kickSTARTER, meaning you back a PROJECT and watch it become a real product. Second of all it is mentioned in every update, what stage they are at with the production (including the update you responded "what's happening?" to... I can't even put in to words how stupid that is). Last of all, since the beginning of the campaign, they have expressed that shipping should begin in December, which by the looks of things looks to be spot on. (We will ship our first batch of retail units in December 2017.
We also offer a pilot-section on Kickstarter. Supporters in this section will get a beta-version of Amabrush in October. This ensures that we can implement the feedback of those into our further optimization)

I am pretty confident I can sniff a scam, and this is not one of them in my opinion. They have provided real photos, instead of well designed graphics which was clearly not taken by a human being. I have backed 10 products on Kickstarter and not once have I been scammed, in fact I have received all products I paid for (besides one as it was not funded) so I am assured you will also both receive it. Please give them till December, and you will begin to see with each biweekly update (again, a promise fulfilled) which stage they are at and watch it come to fruition.

      @All, and especially @John Sand & @frankt@cavtel.net,
In addition to what others have pointed out, this product is still in development. And we all knew that when we made our pledges. Remember KickStarter is not a store. You gave money to a company to help them bring a product to market and as a thank you, they have agreed to send us whatever pledge for which we signed up.

BUT, very important to realize that even a December 2017 shipping time frame is unlikely. Let's assume there are no problems with tooling, manufacturing, materials, shipping, customs, etc... There is almost certainly going to be a delay as the toothbrush goes through various certification processes. They mention the FCC for the Bluetooth, but there are also other safety and electrical certifications that they will have to obtain before any mass manufacturing or shipping of product. This is all standard for a startup and a new product. So kickback and relax, don't count on having it at any specific time... until it's in your hands. What's most important is that they get this right, even if it takes more months than they originally planned.

Improvements look promising! Looking forward to the final product. If it's not too late, please consider making the fluoride-free toothpaste glycerin-free as well. Thanks!

@John Sand @frankt@cavtel.net: In Addition what was already said from others it says in the Campaign: Estimated delivery December 2017 ... be patient. :)

    18. Alexander Kucera on

@John Sand: same as for Frank goes for you. You didn’t “order” anything. You “backed” a product idea on Kickstarter. That’s a very important difference. Backing on Kickstarter means you like the idea and would give money to see the product being produced. Once a product’s Kickstarter campaign is over the product still has to be made a process that usually takes month and sometimes even longer. It’s not unusual for products to be delayed considerably. And sometimes it even happens that a product never gets delivered because of unforeseen things happening during production. That’s life and something you have to be prepared for before you give your money to a Kickstarter project. Next time read the terms of service before giving your money away.

@Frankt - Congrats on kickstarting your first project! However, you have to realize that you are helping to develop new products here, not immediately purchase finished products. Amabrush isn't expected to deliver until December, and it's not uncommon to see a delay beyond the estimated delivery. Right now they seem to be going well, but you will have to wait a bit to receive your product. :)

Wow good news. The smaller mouthpiece looks nice and longer battery life sounds also great! Its really nice you iterate on improvements before shipping the first batch!

      Thanks for the update.

    23. Amanda on

Frankt@cavtel.net You should read about the shipping. When you purchased it, it said it wouldn't ship until December. Things on Kickstarter take a while to ship because they have to be made first once they are funded. Please be sure to read next time.

Just one concern about this fantastic product... the rear edge of teeth will not be cleaned on the furthest molars. This might not matter for some teeth but it does on at least one of mine, where I have to ensure it is cleaned to gum level properly. Will there be any closure/wraparound to the rear of the devic to help with this?

I mainly ask because the gumlines and teeth here are where food gets lodged the most!

Other than this I am waiting impatiently for the product's delivery.
