Hello, I have developed Solar Empire, a fun space combat card game for 2 players set in the far reaches of outer space, where the fate of humanity is threatened by an alien invasion. Players will get two 52 card decks, one deck is called United Planets, which represents Earth and the rest of the solar system, and the other is Andromeda Empire, the closest rival galaxy with intelligent life. This game can be played in 30-45 minutes, there are no dice or tokens involved, no need for pencils or markers, its totally portable and easy to learn. The suggested age range is 8 years old through adult, and the game itself relies on simple addition and subtraction skills, and it allows for some good strategy during game play.
My designer, Scott LaForce, has done a great job creating the card designs and this game has been played by my testers for months to work out the game mechanics properly. All the game artwork will be furnished by Innovari, an awesome Italian CGI artist, His work is very beautiful and captures my idea for the game's illustrations. The game itself consists of two decks of 52 cards each, 33 ship cards per deck, 13 special effects and six planet cards. The video doesn't show game footage, please check the official website for game setup using the prototype decks. Weekly updates will be sent out via the Solar Empire Blog, and that's where new information on progress, and expansions will be revealed first to all players.
Solar Empire is a collectible card game, but the expansions will be standardized so everyone who purchases a deck will get the same cards, no random blister packs. Any additional cards will be promotional cards which will be available to all players via the official website, so all players can access these cards in the future. I would like to organize a tournament at some point in the future so players can win prizes and have fun in a large group setting. Currently, I would just be happy with your support as game players, as I have put many months into this project to see it through to this point. I have included links to the official website below as well as the weekly blog site for Solar Empire. All backers are important to me, and all your support will help me cover the cost of artwork, printing, shipping and design work.
I never thought creating a game would be this much work or this much fun either, and I would say that the game itself is like a cross between Chess and Poker. No two cards are identical, the game is played with the cards face down, the graphics are tight, and the game mechanics are original. Everyone who has tried this game has liked it, and their feedback has made it a much better product then it was originally. I want to thank the people at Kickstarter for their willingness to allow me to showcase this game and I hope all the people who buy it will really like it as much as I do, happy holidays!
