Monikers: Shmonikers

Hey hey!

I’m very excited but also pants-wettingly terrified to let you know that we just finished a new set of cards for Monikers. If you've been having fun with the game, I think you’re going to love the cards we came up with.

And the best thing: they’re only $10. Which is less than I’m going to pay for lunch today, probably.

Anyway, take a look at the Kickstarter page when you have a minute. I'd love to hear what you think. And if you back the project, sharing over Facebook or Twitter or sending a raven or whatever is always a big boost for a tiny project like ours.

Seriously, thanks again for everything.

Has website

Hellooooooooooo. Hi.

So Monikers has a website now:

We think it's pretty cool and more interesting than most game sites. Hope you like it!

We also had two really nice things happen today. We're a staff pick this week in The Onion A.V. Club. And we were only called annoying hipsters twice in the comments, which honestly feels like an accomplishment.

The other thing is that Monikers is featured on Product Hunt today. If you've never visited the site, it's where people soullessly fight for the fleeting attention of the internet instead of meaningfully connecting with other human beings. Also, voting on new products.

So if you have a minute today, check it out, vote, and maybe leave a nice comment. Stuff like that really helps get the word out about the game. Plus I'll be really sad if we end up with fewer votes than "Rip Van Wafels." Which I guess is out to disrupt the Dutch baked goods sector.

Monikers now available on Amazon

I hope you're all doing well and have had a chance to play Monikers. The reception has been incredible so far. Thanks to everyone who wrote to say how much they're enjoying the game, or just to let us know that they now have loads of blackmail material on their friends after a 1:00am charades round.

We've had a lot of questions about where to get extra copies. Starting today, we have some available for purchase:

Click here to buy Monikers on Amazon

I hope we ordered enough, because once they're gone, we're going to have another west coast port situation.

And if you've had fun playing Monikers, could you do us a quick favor and leave a review?

I know. That's a pretty weird thing to do. But it would mean a lot to us and it makes a HUGE difference in people finding out about the game. I was going to write a review to show solidarity, but felt uncomfortable reviewing our own game. So instead I picked a random thing I ordered recently:

Those cat clippers are great by the way. If you're in the market for affordable cat clippers, you can't do better than those. 5 stars.

Hello Kickstarter friends,

Here's my inbox right now:

Multiply that by some big number and you have every copy of Monikers shipping to US backers TODAY. (International will unfortunately take a little longer, since the game has to be processed and cleared for export.)

Also: I should really turn notifications off.

Anyway, January 7 is the date Amazon estimates for most deliveries. Maybe earlier if you're on the west coast? Either way, you should receive a notification email from Amazon in the next couple days with your tracking info.

Justin and I are so, so thrilled to be getting these to you. We can't wait to hear what you think.

Shipping update

Hi all,

Quick update from logistics land—a magical land known throughout the world for being completely fucking boring. The cargo ship arrived in November, but there are apparently crippling labor issues at the ports in L.A. right now. So we're still waiting for it to unload. Seriously, the title of that article is literally "Are West Coast longshoremen spoiling Christmas?"

We expected to send shipping notices to everyone by now, but basically, we just have to wait however long it takes. Being the little guy doesn't help either, I'm sure. Apparently, besides Monikers, other things affected include McDonald's french fries bound for Japan, Lululemon yoga gear bound for your mother's tush, and Šarūnas Marčiulionis bobbleheads bound for, I dunno, probably ebay.

With all the craziness, there's a real possibility the games won't ship in time for the holidays. I know. Realizing that was such a gut punch for us. The process has mostly been out of our hands since early August, and we had been told the entire process would take 6-8 weeks. Clearly it hasn't and we feel like complete jerks for telling you it would.

Anyway, the good news is that the game looks GREAT and will definitely be here soon. But whether that means a week or a month, I have no idea. But we'll do everything in our puny brains to get the game to you as quickly as possible.

Your dumb friend,

P.S. If you bought extra copies for the holidays, send me a message and we'll work something out.
