We are so thankful for all of the support we have been given so far in making our initial goal in less than 10 days. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far!
With 20 days still remaining we have a new proposition: if we are able to raise $10,000 before the end of this campaign we will record one additional song at Signal Kitchen Studios, film the whole process, and give the video as well as an mp3 of the final track as a reward to everyone who donates to our campaign. With more money we will be able to print more cds, get better packaging, and promote the album.
So please keep contributing and get the word out to your friends! Get a group of friends together and pool your money to get a personal concert. You still have time to get a copy of the album two weeks prior to its release, shirts, lyric books, and more.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We’ve been playing throughout the Northeast for the past year. In that time we’ve worked hard to form a cohesive sound and fine tune a collection of songs. We've gotten a lot of great feedback from fans along the way. We are constantly refining our sound and taking the greatest care with the song writing process.
After playing the Waking Windows festival in Winooski, VT last May, Dan Bolles, music editor of Seven Days, the independent newspaper in Burlington, had this to comment:
“So they pretty much win, hands down, for best new local band.” Yep. The five-piece outfit has a sprawling indie-folk sound that fans of bands such as Fleet Foxes or the Low Anthem could eat with a spork. This is swooning, harmony-laden stuff, complex arrangements laced with arcing fiddle, shimmering keys and healthy doses of ringing guitar punch."
Last winter we recorded two tracks on our own and had a great time with the process. You can listen to the tracks at our website (and check out other great stuff while you're there!). We quickly gathered enough material for a full length album and decided that working with the right studio would give us the expertise and know-how to get the sound we want for the album. As the music industry is constantly evolving, it is more important than ever to have high quality recordings. As our fans and supporters, we believe you all deserve the best.
This fall we’ve been lucky enough to work with Signal Kitchen, a recording studio in Burlington, VT that is run by two phenomenal music gurus. They’ve given us time to explore our sound and capture the character of the songs we envisioned. We are taking our time to ensure that we get the right sound for every aspect of the album. The recording is almost finished, but there is still a lot of post-production work to be done, and we need to compensate all those involved for their time and energy.
$6,000 to record, mix, master, and press the album is the bare minimum to get this album out there. This is already a highly reduced price for the amount of time and effort that is being dedicated to this album by the engineers and producers. Kickstarter allows us to solicit this money from our fans, but remember, if we don't reach our goal of $6,000 your money is returned and we get nothing.
With your help we can compensate everyone who is working on this album and achieve our goal of releasing it this spring. Please take time to watch our video, check out our website, and familiarize yourself with what we are trying to accomplish. Be sure to check out the rewards we our offering, and donate whatever amount you choose. Any amount will be greatly appreciated!
We need you and your support to make this record happen. As independent artists it is our fans who we turn to to aid us in this process. By directly turning to our fans we can continue to give all the time and energy we have to making great music for you.
*Special thanks to Dylan Redford, Alec Richker, and Brian McCann for their great video footage!
Risks and challenges
Making an album is a long and tedious process. Thankfully we have a great team on our side who is supporting us in seeing this project through. Every member of our group, as well as the engineers and producers we work with, carefully scrutinizes every aspect of the recordings to make sure that nothing is overlooked. This takes time, but with such a hardworking group of people we are able to tackle any problems that arise. We will not stop working until we deliver the best album we can to all of you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
