After so many years, 17 years old Sam is thrown out of his house by his abusive father. He finds a safe haven in an old bookstore and meets a girl who is just like him. Sam beginning as a misunderstood teenager, leaves the danger of his home, and tries to find happiness in a safer location. Along the way, he meets Dakota, and takes her under his wing, resorting to protecting her from the same harm and hate he has experienced but he finds that his protectiveness of her, becomes something much closer than a stranger.
Sam’s fight with his Dad begins the tension, and the confrontation that drives him to run away and forget his family and when he meets Dakota, it begins to plant a seed that they both have to survive and learn to live without their families. They find shelter at an old bookstore, and under the care and kindness of the old bookstore owner, Sam and Dakota start what seems to be a sturdy and safe life style for them.
