Campaign Update #66 - Shipping Update Cont.
This is Allen again for your weekly update.
My plan was to release the vessel details for the update this week. Alas, we still don’t have it. What I can confirm, however, is that things are moving. Our manufacturer has received the booking form for release, so we know things are indeed happening in the background even if we had to get the information from our manufacturer rather than straight from the source.
This is a new logistics company we are dealing with. The distribution partners we've worked with all had good things to say about this company so we're not concerned and trust that they will deliver the goods. However, it's evident that they've not dealt with Kickstarter campaigns before.
As you all know, we are different to many other Kickstarter campaigns. We update backers weekly and we don’t hide information away from the public eye. We expect the partners we work with to do the same. At the very least, provide us timely updates as a professional courtesy.
Shipping containers of games can often seem like a black box. Shipping request and money go in one end and goods arrive on the other end. Details don’t usually flow back to the end client unless the logistics company's point of contact is on the ball and open to being communicative.
Aside from Kris at VR Distribution who is helping us organise all of the shipments, the logistics company works for us and is responsible for issuing the necessary requests and forms to get the cargo to their requisite destinations. For those unfamiliar with freight logistics, it's typical to have many other companies between us and the shipping company; that's in addition to hand-off companies at each end from origin to destination. The logistics company is the main point of contact on our side but there are many layers staggered throughout involving us, our manufacturer, port authorities, and various interim agencies.
There shouldn't be any reason why our logistics company can't give us the vessel details and arrival dates this coming week. Thanks, everyone for your patience. GTS Distribution and VR Distribution are ready and waiting for the games to arrive and will post out the games the moment they hit their respective warehouses.
As always, thanks for backing.
