Campaign Update #43 - Next steps: Production
Hi there backers,
We spent some time on the phone this week with the manufacturer to better develop the final copy of the game. Below is a complete list of what's being improved after our production sample review. We've also decided to perform another sample run to ensure that everything is of the highest quality before it makes its way to you.
We're seeing if the meeple thickness can be reduced a little without jeopardising the integrity of the hammer. That way they're a little easier to pick up and move around. This won't affect the current timeline as the meeples are already tooled, we just need to let that run on the next sample.
The insert is being modified to include a finger hold between the lower compartments so that it is easier to take out the alleyway boards. We're also expanding the card compartments so that they accommodate sleeved cards.
Punchboard Sizing and Layout
The punchboard is being relaid to better fit the correct coin sizes. The first player marker is also being resized to accommodate as it was a little too big.
Kickstarter Exclusive Items
The coin finish has been chosen for the coins and tooling has begun. We hope to have a few photos from the manufacturer once they have the samples
The die-lines for the art sleeve have been provided and the art is being handed over to manufacturing this coming week.
The draw-string bag for the metal coins is currently in tooling.
The wooden hammer first player marker is currently in tooling.
That's all for this week. We hope to have more news next week on timing as we are having a call in this coming week to get a better idea of a possible retail run (minus the awesome goodies you get as a KS backer), which we can push through at the same time :)
Until next time,
- Dylan, Aaron, and the Smiths of Winterforge team
