Hi there backers,

We have some great information for you this week! The sample has arrived from China and we went through it. Check it out then see our thoughts below.

The Custom Meeples

The custom meeples
The custom meeples

You may have seen in the video above and yes, the meeples can be broken... BUT... it took a fair bit of force in a straight verticle motion to do this. This means that the meeples are unlikely to break due to day-to-day use.

Yes they break... with considerable force applied.

The Vacuform Insert

The Vacuform Insert - Nice and snug...

The vacuform insert that came with the sample is not exactly what we specified so we are going back to the manufacturers to ensure the card spaces are increased by a few millimetres to allow for card sleeves.

A little too snug...

The Rulebook

A lot of work went into this rulebook... worth it.

Ah, the rulebook. It took so much work to get it to where it is and We're glad that we did. This rulebook looks stunning.

The Board

The game board with improved artwork

We absolutely love the board. The art changes we made to accomodate colour-blind users as well as adding the card backs to their relevant deck spots have translated wonderfully to the finished piece

The Cards

They're clean. The art is crisp. The linen finish looks great.

The Guild Boards

The art came out fantastic on the board and the die cut drift moves around slightly but it isn't drifting enough to be a concern. The guild cubes fit great into the cut boards.

Coins & Tokens

First Player Marker, Coins, and Work Tokens

These are beautiful. They did turn out a little larger than they were supposed to as the artwork was not scaled down to match the specifications. It's only off by a few millimetres, so will be easy to correct before we mass produce.

Expansion Boards

The alleyway expansions

These, like the game board, look great. You may notice that they are smaller than originally planned. After having discussions with the artist and the manufacturer, we decided to cut the size of them to help with shipping weight as there was a lot of surperfluous board space when there was not a need to line up with the board. Instead, now you just throw them up on top of the board. or wherever they fit on the table.

All in all, we're really happy with the production sample. We'll be talking with the manufacturer and fixing up the little errors in prep for the final push of the go button. We're also waiting on the Kickstarter exclusive material (the Coins, Pouch, and Wooden First Player Token) as they are being produced externally.

Any updates for us? Would be great to see the metal coins please

I am going to be extremely disappointed if the changes you make to accomodate the vocal minority that are sleevers causes unsleeved cards to not work.

@James: The changes we made were primarily focused on the Prime Position spots for each of the precincts. The original artwork had the borders in red but we changed them to white to better contrast against the artwork behind it :)

Out of curiosity, what were the changes to the board for colour-blind people? It's hard to tell comparing the pictures on the campaign page to the sample (mostly because of the saturation difference between the campaign photo and the more candid sample shots of course)

Thanks for redoing the insert to ensure it fits sleeved cards, and please make a good product, not a rushed product.

Glad to see you're excited @Michael. We can't wait to get this game out to all of you.

@Danilo, sorry to hear you're disappointed. We're moving the game through as fast as we can but, if we push too hard, we're likely to have errors go through the process and the errors seen above would have made it into the final production copies. I'd prefer all of the backers to receive a good product, not a quick one.

I like that you made it easier for color blind people. :) huge plus for me. And love that we can have an insert for sleeved cards. Cannot wait to get my hands on this.
