Good news everyone! After a gruelling 45 hours, we've finally been verified (again). Kickstarter should be launching today. Just have to dot some final i's and cross some t's. Will send an update here when we are live :)
Any idea when you are going live with the next iteration?
We all are @The Doctor... we all are *stares off into distance*
I am getting Anxious
 Argh get it together KS
@Lauro, we are eagerly awaiting final identity verification from Kickstarter before we are allowed to launch. It has been with them for the last 13 hours with no response :( we will post an update here once we go live :)
when it will start?
Hey everyone! Don't forget to check out our latest update (#7) for word on when we're relaunching the project :)
Thank you for the update Dylan...the comments was the only place i did not check before messaging you. I look forward to the update! Also, thank you for the response in PM (sadly the app doesn't let me check the PMs)
Cheers Dylan, looking forward to it.
Howdy folks. Just a quick comment that we have some great new work being done on the game and we should have an update for you in the next week or two :)
Great shame and can't wait for the relaunch.
Deliver this game to the world.
Well, that sucks! Guess I'll see you guys next year. Good luck!
Hey, everyone! This is Allen Chang from Rule & Make. We're super stoked to be involved in the relaunch of Smiths of Winterforge. We believe in the game and we're helping out the Table Tyrant team to ensure the project is as good as it can possibly be when it's relaunched early next year!
Thanks for the comment @Steve. We're working with our friends from Rule & Make to see what we can do about getting the game funded. Should have a result this afternoon our time :)
I did think that when I funded the project that the shipping was going to be a turn off for many USA based buyers. The thing is that we all need to remember where this game is shipping from and that many folks include the shipping costs into their total goal which inflates the total amount needed; most still charge shipping at the end, though at a lower amount and create sort of a double dip on the funding. Table Tyrant Games is at least upfront, and also increasing the chance of the game being funded. I do really hope that there are a few end of fund lurkers that push this into the funded territory. I am fairly stoked to give this game a try!
Thanks for the comment @John. The $20 shipping is in AUD so, in USD that is around $15. Also, rather than obfuscate the true cost of shipping into the game price, we have instead elected to clearly display that shipping cost, so that we could reach our goal with less overall backers, instead of eating into the profit per copy and nearly doubling the amount of copies required to reach the funding target.
$20 for shipping to the States? WOW, I'm hoping that's being worked on and just a placeholder #
Thanks @Steve. Yeah, King's Forge does come up but, like you said, the similarity is the dwarven theme. We find King's Forge to be more of a dice-building game whereas Smiths is more about economic management.
I do hope we can get this funded as I would like to see this one succeed and have a few of those stretches goals unlocked; would really like to see the final one with the upgraded card stock. It does happen to be near the end of the month, and many folks are paying bills and what not. I also think more buzz would come from the USA once those other two do a review on the game; let us hope they do this before it ends.
Overall I believe you've put together quite the interesting game, with some great mechanics. I know some are trying to compare it to Kings Forge, and that really only comes from the similar theme and building items but there is way more depth to your game.
@Roman: thanks for your comment. We asked Rahdo if he would be interested but he said he's not a fan of roll-to-resolve games :( We do have copies sitting with BoardGameBrawl and UndeadViking so hopefully, they can get their previews up shortly :)
@Einar: We have four expansions planned in total, each adding a new mechanic to the game, the first of which is the Runesmith, adding a blind purchase element to the game that can be of little or lots of benefit to your game. The others we have planned include the Thieve's Guild, a take-that theft mechanic, the Auction House, a risky roll-for-reward element that can give you more or less money for a contract, and the Shrine of Thommag, a hidden score element.
These are what we call Alleyways. Each expansion will be a tile that you can sit on the player board between any of the four corner precincts. You can move through them without penalty (so you could still travel from The Market to The Forge as one action) but you can end your movement on the alleyway tile and take it's precinct action. It would then cost you another move action to move off the alleyway.
The KS is very slow and I really hope that we can get this founded!
Did you send samples to Rahdo, The dice tower, Watch it played, Hunter & Cron, ... ? To be honest, I never heard about the channel of the couple playing boardgames before.
How many expansions are in the works? How does movement past them work?
Is there any possibility of a huge game mat with expansions - even as an add on?
Let's get some more activity this weekend.
@Einer There are 161 cards that should fit into a standard american card sleeve from Fantasy Flight Games (green). We will be including reference cards (something we found during playtesting of the prototypes printed prior to this campaign).
We're still working out the best way to lay out this information so our priority for the reference cards will be the end-game scoring, and then we will work back from there regarding the game actions.
These reference cards will be included in both the final version and the print n play :)
What is the breakdown of cards and what size are they for sleeving?
Are there any quick reference cards? Either included or print and play?
@samuel vargo, shipping for the project is already as lean as we could make it without eating into the funds required to produce the game. The only way to decrease the shipping costs further would be to obfuscate the true cost of shipping either behind a higher reward pledge for backers or increasing the project's funding goal.
Is there any plans to get cheaper shipping to the US?
Sounds great, thanks!
Hey @jason. Thanks for your comment. Whether we do the shipping as part of the Kickstarter pledge, or post campaign using an app like Backerkit, the cut would still be the same just this way, backers know all of the costs of getting the game before they fill out the backer surveys after the campaign has ended.
With the goal, we have made the campaign as lean as possible before we would have to start reducing the quality of the components, something we do not want to do. The guys at Rule & Make have helped us out greatly in reducing our fulfilment processes to keep shipping as low as possible. The project's goal not only reflects the cost of printing the game, but also the cost of fulfilment for those backers as well :)
Hope that answers your question. Let me know if you have anymore :)
@Creator- Sorry to just now be bringing this up, but is it wise on your end to have shipping added into our pledge? With KS taking their cut, your shipping estimates will need to be a little high to compensate. That also cuts into your overall funding target as part of what you bring in is already earmarked for shipping rather than production. If you've already considered this, I apologize and will butt-out.
Love the lore dudes! I had the gist of it when I did the artwork, but the full write ups are awesome! That total keeps on growing, keep up the good work guys!
I agree, that was an awesome update! Now my dwarves are getting all mixed up in my head though, as I am finally reading my giant lore books for Dragon Age. :)
Thanks @Jason :)
Nice update! Always like a little Dwarf lore.
Keep growing. Hope we start breaking through to the stretch goals. The Kicktraq path looks good http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/allofthed/smiths-of-winterforge-a-game-for-2-5-dwarven-black/#chart-daily
@Einar: they already have :)
You should ask LevelUpDice mention this Kickstarter in their news feed. They do have some neat products.
@ Agnes Nutley-Govaerts: we can't do local pickup as it can get a little messy in the fulfilment stage and we'd rather make sure everyone gets their copies. Will message you now regarding a double copy pledge.
Dude :) Just figured out you are in Brisvegas... :) me too. Can't I do a local pickup and organise the shipping myself? (ps would it be possible to pick up my pedge too and avoid the $12 shipping in OZ)
Man, you weren't kidding about those voices.
@ Agnes Nutley-Govaerts: Hi Agnes. We'll have a look at what we can do on the shipping front. We'll respond in a private message :)
Uhm.... would it be possible to pledge for two games? I want one for myself but would love to buy a copy for my parents in Europe....
@Adrian we have included those to match with the guild colours :) 6 guilds means 6 colours.
I was meaning the meeples (6) & skill cubes (6x3).
@Adrian: The game has been designed for 5 players at most. 6 player games are possible but we wouldn't recommend it as it drags considerably. We have 6 player boards to allow for differences in starting skill points (each guild starts with a combination of 2 skill points).
Hey, there are components for 6 players in the component list. The icons at the top display say it's 2-5 players? Is that an as yet undiscIosed stretch goal? Or a mistake? Or just like to give peope the options of colours ;-) ?
