About

I had a revelation as a kid: Halloween… a day when I was actually encouraged to put on a mask and run around the neighborhood at night screaming like a little maniac. Then I was given candy.

Really, what could be better?…way too much fun for one day of the year.

My life’s path became expanding upon Halloween. I planned my costume months in advance.

I memorized Dick Smith’s “Do It Yourself Monster Makeup” book. I started playing character parts in plays and musicals in school, and eventually managed to get myself to NYC to attend acting school. From acting to puppetry (acting through an object) and working on a lot of other projects, I find myself poised to bring it all together. I have returned full circle to Halloween…

All Hallows Eve…no candy required.

PLEASE JOIN US AS WE HAUNT THE HOUSE AT THE CONNELLY

Theatrical runs in NYC are costly, but it's time that we share our haunted house with the world.  With only 3 months to go and 16 shows for our  puppets withstand, we are raising funds for: sets, costumes, rehearsal space, performers compensation for rehearsal, the theater, advertising...you get the picture...

We hope that you can help us get to the incredible Connelly Theater and that we see you there!  (https://www.connellytheater.org/)

Eve and Evan are twins roped into yet another desperately dull Halloween by their parents. Managing to break free, they maraud, pumpkin-smash and toilet-paper, inadvertently crossing the thin line between worlds on this night of all nights. They enter a house and meet a demoness who has been lying in wait for just such a pair. A harrowing cat-and-mouse game ensues with the stakes being nothing less than their immortal souls. All Hallows Eve is a tale wrapped up in horror, comedy, and blood… and definitely not for young children.

All Hallows Eve began as a twenty-minute Guest Artist Project for the 2013 National Puppetry Conference at The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. A lot of hard work later, the first version of the entire piece came together during a two-week residency, also at The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, in February 2018 for three performances.

This October production at the Connelly Theater will be its first presentation in New York City.

MARTIN P. ROBINSON (Producer, writer, director) is a professional puppeteer since 1975 and has worked with some of the most interesting companies in his travels. He learned his craft performing marionettes with Bil Baird and toured the country with Nicolo Marionettes. He has been a featured performer on Sesame Street since 1981, learning at the right hand (literally) of the greats including Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and Jerry Nelson. He designed, built, coordinated and performed in the Nickelodeon show “Allegra’s Window,” performed the “Cat in the Hat” in “Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss,” and spent five seasons on the British satire “Spitting Image.” He performed in five Muppet related feature films including animatronics for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.

Martin is best known for his work on the original 1982 production of “Little Shop of Horrors” and the Broadway revival in 2003 in which he designed, coordinated construction and performed the carnivorous plant Audrey II. He created the signature frog for Susan Stroman and Stephen Sondheim’s production of Nathan Lane’s “Frogs” at Lincoln Center. He also created and directed puppets for three productions at Carnegie Hall.

He has been on staff at the National Puppetry Conference for over two decades where he produced his first full-length production, “Jackstraws in a Wind Tunnel,” as well as a cracked musical parody “Pigeon Holed,” and a pivotal scene from “All Hallows Eve.” He also wrote and directed two dark-themed puppet films as an instructor, one of which, “The Bottlestopper Project: Tales from the Dutch Tavern,” is currently on tour with Heather Henson’s Puppets on Film Series. As a member of the Conference’s staff, he conceived and implemented the “Puppet Anarchy” course.

Martin has also been a master teacher for Sesame Street International helping cast and train puppeteers in co-productions around the world. For more information visit: www.MartinPRobinson.com.

PAUL RUDOLPH (Composer): Paul Rudolph is a composer, arranger, instrument builder, and vocal music director/recordist for “Sesame Street”, where he received Emmy nominations for Music Direction in 2009 and 2013. He attended the University of Illinois for an M.S. in Music Composition. Paul’s passion for music composition melds into the “found-object” instrument realm, where he designs/builds musical oddities from industrial materials such as saw blades, artillery shells, and motorcycle gears. These instruments are a key element of the music in his percussion performance art group GLANK, and some were featured in excerpts of Martin Robinson’s Halloween Project at the O’Neill Puppetry Conference in 2013. PaulRudolphMusic.com

JENNIFER BARNHART (The Witch) was an original cast member of Avenue Q on Broadway. HALEY JENKINS (Eve) is excited to put her puppets down and pick up a trick-or-treat bag for All Hallow’s Eve!  Fav credits include: Sesame Street,  SNL,  Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Pee-wee Herman Show  (Original B’way Cast), Last Week Tonight, John Tartaglia’s ImaginOcean, and The Center for Puppetry Art’s  Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.  Her best Halloween costume was herself as Roomba-Cat.

Risks and challenges

Because of the unique way that we are utilizing the space, we must limit audience size. Therefor, raising funds now is an essential part of mounting this production.
