Backing at the Admin (All-in) tier? Please be aware that these games will ONLY be delivered in June 2020. If you want to get the base game and deluxe add-ons boxes earlier (August 2019) we encourage you to buy them directly from your local gaming store - availability permitting - instead of backing this campaign. If you are happy to wait, then please do back, and get everything together in June 2020!
Either way, this Kickstarter is the best way to get the new expansions for the best possible price!
Please Note: Some retailers will buy the Kickstarter Pack through this Kickstarter Campaign. This is the only way that the Kickstarter Pack will be available at retail.
The 5th Player expansion adds everything you'll need to play the base game and the other expansions with a 5th player including:
- A new player hospital
- Extra nurse meeples
- Extra score tracker
- Extra Dice
The Helicopter from the Community Care expansion acts as ambulance '0' - the 6th ambulance for a 5 player game.
We're excited to be bringing a 5th Player to Dice Hospital!
Spanish version - offered below through Maldito, see the bottom of the Kickstarter Page for details.
German and French versions - Likely to come out at a later date either through a separate crowdfunding campaign or direct to retail.
- Collect your own patients - Move your ambulances around the edge of the City and send your paramedic meeples to collect patients.
- The Helicopter - The Helicopter gives you the freedom to collect patients from wherever you want in the City.
- The patients you collect matter - increased player interaction of the intake phase.
- End of game bonuses - Compete with other players to be the best in one of the 4 special end game bonuses and you'll gain extra points.
- Mothers and babies - The introduction of a spacial element in the game - Mother dice who are in their own ward never neglect, just like babies, but Mother dice sharing a ward with other patients will get sick if they're not treated. You'll also need to think ahead to discharge them together!
- Twins! - Roll the birthing dice to see if the mother in your hospital has one baby or twins! Will you rejoice in the potential for extra points or worry about the additional pressure on your hospital?
- Customise your hospital - Invest in your hospital to customise your rooms. Now a single room could treat up to 5 patients!
- A new dynamic - If you take the higher value ambulance your hospital will have to cope with more patients. If you've invested well you could be in for a big reward!
- Extra Crunchyness - The next step in complexity for Dice Hospital - endless customisation
- More interactivity - Increased interactivity as you compete over the investments board!
Can't wait to get your hands on Dice Hospital right now? We've just reprinted it! We encourage you to ask your Friendly Local Games Store if they have it in stock. If not, they can order now through their distributor. You should be able to buy the games yourself from them.
Backing at the Admin (All-in) tier means you ONLY get the games in June 2020, which is why we are being transparent about the imminent August 2019 arrival of the reprint in your local gaming stores :)
Want to know how to play the base game of Dice Hospital? Check out the video from Gaming Rules! here:
The City Expansion makes the intake phase of Dice Hospital more exciting than ever. Players compete over dice on the shared map and earn the right to use the helicopter. If players don't look after the dice on the map, there will be fatalities and the player who contributed least to the overall health of the city will be penalised! Here's how it works:
Dice are added to the City tiles. Any '2's that are rolled get a bonus token added to them. Players collect dice from the City with their Paramedic Meeple and add them to their ambulance. If any rows or columns are emptied during their turn, they are refilled and added to the tiles on the buildings (not on the streets)
The players total the number of pips on their new dice and the ambulances are re-distributed in order of lowest to highest, with the lowest being the first player this round. The first player gets to use the helicopter next turn
The Activation phase and Discharge phase happen in the normal way. During the Neglect phase, any dice that are on the streets of the city are neglected too, with any fatalities going to the most selfish player(s) first!
The Maternity Expansion brings the miracle of childbirth to Dice Hospital. Mother dice are represented by pink D6 dice and baby dice are represented by mini pink D6 dice. Players must discharge the mother and baby dice together and each game has end-game scoring objectives for players to compete over.
Here's how it works:
When a mother dice enters a player's hospital, they'll add a maternity ward to their existing ward then roll the dice to see if they have one baby or twins. Mothers and babies are treated like normal (with some additional maternity departments added to the game) but mothers only neglect when they're in a ward with other patients, so make sure you give them some private space!
Mothers and babies must be discharged during the same round, so you'll have to plan ahead even more than usual! If your discharged patients match the end-game scoring objective, you're one step closer to gaining some bonus points.
The Investments Expansion opens up the endless potential of Dice Hospital. By visiting the Investments board players can create custom hospitals in countless configurations. No two games of Dice Hospital will ever be the same. Of course, now that your hospitals are more powerful than ever, you'll have to deal with an increase in demand!
You can now visit the Investments Board to upgrade and customise your hospital. You can place these Investments anywhere on your hospital (Max 2 per room). Why just treat red dice when you can treat red, yellow, and green in one go!
During the intake phase, the additional intake board is used to represent how the local hospital investments have attracted more patients. More patients will come in with the higher ambulances! A potential burden, or opportunity for more points?
These add-ons will be available in the pledge manager. We will be using Backerkit as a pledge manager for this campaign. You can pledge the additional funds now through Kickstarter or later through the pledge manager.
Please Note: These add-ons will be delivered around the same time as your Dice Hospital: Community Care pledge (Spring - Summer 2020) but may be delivered together or separately, depending upon which logistics solution we choose to use. We will update backers with more information on this when we have made a decision.
We have offer excellent retailer rates. We have set a MOQ of 6 copies of Dice Hospital: Community Care for this campaign.
Please contact us if you have any questions about our retailer rates or would like to discuss different options.
Proof of retailer status required. Unfortunately, we won't be able to offer retailer pledges for some countries in Asia, so please message us beforehand so we can check.
We are offering discounts for group pledges of 6 backers of more from 5% off. All group pledges for the UK and the US come with FREE shipping
Please message us for further information about the rates of discount for your country.
Unfortunately, we won't be able to offer group pledges for some countries in Asia, so please message us beforehand so we can check.
We've partnered with our Spanish localisation partner, Maldito, for this Kickstarter campaign. Back the campaign at your preferred tier and send us a message to let us know if you'd prefer the Spanish versions. We'll add a note to your pledge and pass the details on to Maldito.
Please note, that whilst Maldito will do their very best to get the games to you as soon as possible, there may be some delays due to the translation of files. However, you'll be the first to receive Dice Hospital: Community Care in your Spanish
We are liaising with our German and French partner for Dice Hospital: to bring Dice Hospital: Community Care to you in German/French. These will be available at a later date and not through this Kickstarter campaign
Once again we're offering FREE shipping for Dice Hospital: Community Care in UK and USA and subsidised shipping elsewhere. We're subsidising shipping at all levels but our bigger orders will cost more to ship. See the table below for more information.
Please note: After the issues we faced with the base game fulfilment, we will NOT be using GamesQuest at all.
Since we have a very good royal mail business account, we will be using RM and sending out most of the games via Alley Cat Games HQ, as we have done previously for: Lab Wars, Cauldron Master, Pocket Pharma, Pocket Sub and Welcome to DinoWorld. However, we may also choose to use QML for some US shipments but almost certainly Aetherworks for all AUS/NZ shipments to give AUS/NZ friendly shipping.
Note: Below is the MAXIMUM shipping that we will charge you for each item - some add-ons such as the pocket games will be cheaper to ship so you will be charged less. Our promise is that this will be the same or cheaper than our website. Shipping will be finalised in the pledge manager.
- Big games - Chocolate Factory, Dice Hospital +£4/$5
- Medium games - Welcome to DinoWorld, Coral Islands, Ruthless +£3/$4
- Small games - Cat Café, Pocket Games, Cauldron Master +£2/$3
EU2 includes Italy and Sweden
Please note: Due to previous shipping issues we do not ship to South America, Mexico, Russia, and all of the Middle East (including UAE & Saudi Arabia).
Shipping for Spanish versions of the game may vary.
No one knows what's going to happen if/when Brexit takes place. However, in the event that the UK leaves the customs union, we promise to keep EU shipping EU friendly by using an EU based fulfilment centre.
With every game we have funded on Kickstarter, we have kept backers informed of all the problems, issues, and - of course - good news as we get the games finished, manufactured and sent to your door. This project will be no different. We don't believe in updates for the sake of them, but we aim for an update once a week during a campaign, and once every month after the campaign is over.
Get it before retail
Lab Wars and Cauldron Master, our first two games, were delivered on time or even early! Dice Hospital was held up at customs and faced a few manufacturing issues, but we in turn delayed the retail launch to put our backers first. Coral Islands and Chocolate Factory deluxe versions will not be in general retail until backers have had it for many months. Backers are always our priority.
World class manufacturing
For this project, we are using Longpack, who manufactured Dice Hospital for us and gave us some fantastic wooden doctor meeples.
Although each standalone expansion has been developed, there is still further development and playtesting required to allow the expansions to be played together so this project has a slightly longer timeline than our other projects to account for this.
- 9 July - Kickstarter Launch
- 26 July - Kickstarter Wraps
- August - November - Finalising Art, Mechanics, and Graphic Design
- December - Manufacturing begins
- January - Manufacturing completed
- February - Shipping
- March - Fulfilment
- May - Delivery
PLEASE NOTE: If there are any delays it could push this back farther for completing fulfilment. The above is an optimistic prediction. We always add extra time to our tiers' estimated delivery dates - as delays can happen. Therefore a realistic prediction is that people's games arrive in June - as we have indicated in the tiers themselves.
Please note: We take our Kickstarter projects very seriously but, just like you, we have families we want to spend time with too. We’re very active on the Kickstarter during UK working hours but it might take us more time to get to your comments on the evenings and weekends, so please be patient with us :)
Risks and challenges
As always with our campaigns, we cannot prevent "god like" failures such as thunderstorm, hurricanes etc.
We can promise you though that we will do everything in our power to keep everyone updated as well as stick to the original plan as possible.
You can rest assured that since this is our 11th campaign, that we are a capable and knowledgeable company. Customer service has always been our number one priority.
We are a very open company and welcome feedback, suggestions and comments either publicly or privately!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
