Thanks for coming to visit our Kickstarter page! Y’all’s love and support these last few years has been overwhelming. We are sincerely thankful for the encouragement that our family of friends and fans continue to give us. We’ve got some big stuff happening, but it isn’t going to be easy; we need your help to see it through.
In December of 2011, we headed to East Nashville’s famous Bomb Shelter Recording Studio with engineer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Buffalo Clover, Caitlin Rose) to make a very special record – the first with the Allen Thompson Band.
In just 2 weeks, the band and myself, along with some very special members of the ATB family, tracked 9 songs live to tape and mixed our new album. The album will be called Salvation In the Ground. Now, we are at a crossroads: The album has been recorded, but we still have miles to go before this project comes to fruition with the release of the record.
We're asking for $7,000 to complete this project. That amount will go towards paying for artwork, album pressing, and promotion of the album (radio, press, and touring). In reality, it costs far more than that to see a project like this through from its inception to its end. However, we wanted to set an attainable goal. You see, Kickstarter has very strict 100% funding guidelines. This means that if we do not meet our goal of $7000, we get no funding, and you are not charged a thing. Unfortunately, no funding means the project will be suspended indefinitely. Without your help, there will be no album release in the foreseeable future.
But I'm not here to bum you out. There's an up side to this situation as well. If you see we've met the initial goal, KEEP PLEDGING. Kickstarter will allow donations to be made until the end of the funding period, regardless of whether or not the goal was met early. $7000 will allow us to get the album finished and get it out, but there is so much more we could do, and so many more folks we could reach. If you have questions about this, feel free to message us. We're really excited about this album, and we'd love to chat with you about the big plans we have for its release.
Prior to this project, I have undertaken every album I have released on my own and with my own money. In spending the time, energy, and funds on those releases, I have learned a great deal about what goes into a project like this. While funding for this project is certainly a concern, it is not the only factor that has encouraged me to use Kickstarter to help this project see the light of day. Since its inception, Salvation In The Ground has been an entirely collaborative effort. I could not think of a better way to continue this collaboration to the project's end than to share it with you guys every step of the way.
You are as much of a part of this project as the actual members of the band. And we want you to feel like it. One really wonderful thing about Kickstarter is that it encourages you guys to participate in this project from its humble beginnings all the way through until the end. In return for your generosity, you guys have the opportunity to receive gifts from us such as autographed handwritten lyrics from the songs on this album, the album itself, and invitations to parties and shows celebrating the album's release. We'll be updating you on the album's progress throughout the funding period and onward to the completion of this project. You guys will be with us from start to finish.
Thank you for being a part of our family. We are continually humbled by your love and generosity.
Take care and know that you are loved,
The Allen Thompson Band
