Who We Are
We're Alan and Marsha Giroux, owners of All About Books & Comics in Phoenix, Arizona. Our comic book shop has been the go-to hub for new and collectible comics for generations of families. Since 1981, comic book aficionados, in Arizona and worldwide, have perused and purchased from our nationally-recognized, award-winning store. With over ONE MILLION comics in stock, we pride ourselves on our extensive inventory, knowledgeable staff, and family-friendly customer service.
Why We're Turning to Kickstarter
Unfortunately, we recently lost our lease. After 33 years in business, our family-owned comic shop is being forced to move by July of this year. This news came as a heartbreaking surprise. Moving one million comics and completing construction on a brand new store location will be an extremely costly endeavor, so we're turning to the community to help us with this unexpected, costly venture.
The move will throw plenty of obstacles at us: the sheer weight and difficulty of moving one million comics, packing and moving everything from statues to graphic novels, and loss of business due to closure during the move. Then, setting up the new shop -- adding walls, floors, painting, slatwall, signage, fixtures, and more.

Risks and challenges
Moving a store of this magnitude is a HUGE endeavor and challenge. We moved to our current location 15 years ago and found it to be far more expensive, time consuming, and exhausting than we ever anticipated. Times have changed, prices have risen, and we admit we are a bit older than last time.
We know we are up to the task and look forward to creating the new shop from the ground up. With funding in place from this Kickstarter campaign, and back up loans, we are confident and excited to get our new comic shop up and running before our current lease runs out. We plan to fulfill all perks immediately following our move to the new location.
With our amazing stuff, our incredible customers, and fantastic community support, we're excited for the new All About Books & Comics -- and immensely grateful for any and all support!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
