I have known for a few years that my next record would be a collection of faith and worship songs. My life journey has led me to the top of mountain peaks and the bottom of deepest valleys. Throughout every experience, the glue that kept me together was the ever-constant, faithful presence of God. His grace has blown my heart wide open. I believe that these are the songs I need to share with you at this time. This music celebrates His goodness and mercy and invites us to respond by reaching out to the world with that same deep love.
I’m excited to be embarking on this Kickstarter campaign so that we can finish up this project and release it to a hungry and broken world. I am so grateful for fans and supporters who have poured encouragement into my life, allowing me to be vulnerable in my creativity. I call myself an independent artist but the truth is, we are interdependent. Co-creating is the new paradigm. Your support of this project is not only the money that helps me pay for it but it is the kind and gentle push that allows me to give voice to my art. I need YOU!
This is my 8th full-length record. I have been working with producer, Andrew Horrocks at AME Recording Studio in Kitchener, Ontario. We have had the privilege of creating this music with some of Canada’s finest session musicians. I have been blown away by their talent. The list includes Andrew Horrocks, Ian Tanner, Tony Lind, Mark Inneo, Rob Beatdown Brown, Sean Crowley and Rob Horvath, In the month of April, we will be recording the incredible voices of guest artists, Tim Neufeld (Starfield), Jacob Moon and Shane and Angela Wiebe (The Wiebes). These musicians and artists are not only super-talented but possess a passion and commitment to making music that inspires and gives glory to God. Love already has a lot of fingerprints all over this project.
This record will contain 14 tracks, all of which were written by me or are interpretations of favourite old hymns, including “It is Well With my Soul”, “Abide With Me” and “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”. I am also recording a cover of "Guiding Light" by Foy Vance.
Three of the tracks have already been released as singles over the past few years. Now they will all have a home on this one album.
“I Saw Jesus” is a song I wrote after I returned from a trip to Ecuador with World Vision Canada. I was joined on this song by my dear friends and fellow World Vision Artists, Marcel Preston, Dan McCauley, Joel Auge, Matthew Grieve and Kevin Pauls.
I wrote and recorded “Love Like You” with my daughter, Jo who is a student at Hillsong International Leadership college in Sydney, Australia.
Emmanuel is a song I wrote many years ago and my original recording from 2001 has become a favourite over the years. This is an all-new production that was released just in time for Christmas, 2015.
This album is a bit of a new “vibe” for me. My previous 7 projects had a “rootsy”, acoustic sound. These new productions are more full and lush, often with rich orchestration and a bold, contemporary worship sound. I have been enjoying venturing into new territory and I am confident that you will be blessed by these songs.
I’m sure you are wondering what your pledged money will cover… I have been working on these songs for the last few years so it has been a long process. A huge investment of time, money and hard work has been poured into these songs already. At this point, most of the recording is finished. We still have to track some vocals, including the guest artists on three songs. Then the process of mixing and mastering needs to be done. I have the lovely cover art done but still need to complete the CD package graphics and lyric booklet. Then everything will be sent to manufacturing. All of this costs money and we hope to raise the $10,000 goal to complete the project to the point of manufacturing. After that, our stretch goal will be to invest in marketing, promotion and touring in support of the completed project.
I hope to bring you updates during this campaign (song clips, videos, pictures) so you can follow our progress as we work in the studio.

Please know that your backing is vital and deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking this journey with me.
Risks and challenges
I have a lot of experience making records for the past 17 years so I am quite aware of the potential risks involved in a venture like this. At this point in the process, I am confident that we have surpassed the greatest risks. The songs are written. Most of the music is recorded already. Unless the studio blows up or I lose my voice, I think we are safe to say that we will complete the project by the projected date (mid-June). There could be unforeseen delays or additional costs with final recording, mixing, mastering or manufacturing and we will endeavour to keep backers posted of such delays as things progress. This campaign is more of a kick-finisher than a Kickstarter and your financial backing is helping us to get across the finish line. I am confident that we can reach our goal of completion by mid-June, just in time to have new tunes for summer enjoyment.
Kickstarter Basics - Your credit card will not be charged until the project period has ended, and the project is successfully funded. You may cancel your pledge before that date, and you will not be charged anything if the full goal is not reached. After the Kickstarter project is over, you will be contacted regarding shipping information and any other details related to your reward selection. You will receive digital downloads of the album when the Tracks are complete, before the CD's are available. Physical CD's will be mailed at least 1 week before the official release date, which will be announced in May.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
