Lock Break Battle (LBB) is a 1 - 8 Player video game targeting Windows, Xbox Live Indie Games, Mac and Linux. In LBB you play as one of 4 archetypes, an Archer, Mage, Thief, and Warrior. Each have their own pros and cons, that will let you determine which fits your play style best. Once you've chosen your character, you are thrust into the labyrinth where you will battle against 7 other competitors with one goal in mind, escape! To achieve your goal you need to collect enough keys to unlock one of the many gates along the outside walls of the maze. There are lots of things you can do within the labyrinth to better your chances of escape. You can play to the crowd with taunts, and bask in the gifts they throw in the form of powerups. When you run into one of the many locked doors that litter the Labyrinth, you can unlock them to grab a new trap for your disposal. You can then hide them throughout the maze and lay in wait for your enemies to get trapped in them, stealing their keys. Or if brute force is your cup of tea, you can chase down your enemies and attack them head on!
Don't forget to keep your eyes on the clock, because when it gets down to one minute remaining a dragon will breath fire into the middle of the maze, and it will begin bellowing out until it covers everything. You must escape before you are consumed, or you will instantly drop in the rankings.
Algitt Studios was founded in late 2008, while I was finishing up my Junior year at DigiPen in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. I decided to take on a small 2D game called ManaGen, as a test to see how much game I could get done in a months time. I released it in March 2009 as a freeware game on Download.com. After that I took a contract doing all of the artwork for Xbox Live Indie Game (XBLIG), War of Words. My next step was a contract position at Exato Game Studios, where I worked as a Generalist 2D/3D artist, before becoming the Lead Game Artist several months later. At the same time I finished up work on my 2nd game, an XBLIG called Endless Princess (2D Action Endless Runner), and became the Art Director/Network Programmer/Generalist Programmer at Exato on Guncraft (Kickstarter Sucess!).
In August 2012, I decided to leave Exato to focus on bringing Lock Break Battle to fruition. One developer, many hats, and one game to get out the door!

Lock Break Battle is a mix of some of my favorite aspects of multiplayer gaming. It brings the race to first aspect of Mario Kart, with the claustrophobic frantic pace of Bomberman, and the simplicity of Gauntlet. I love couch co-op, or duking it out locally with friends and I wanted to make a game that focuses on that kind of fun, and doing split-screen on the PC was something special I wanted to bring in. It felt like it would go over great with gamers who like to LAN on their PCs, allowing alot of players with less copies of the game.
Lock Break Battle is programmed in C# using XNA and MonoGame. XNA for the Windows and Xbox version of the game, and is being ported to MonoGame for the Mac and Linux versions.

Risks and challenges
Anytime you are a single developer that by itself is the major challenge. You have to know your capabilities and structure your game accordingly. That's what I've spent the past 4 years doing, working on two of my own titles and getting more ambitious each time, allowed me to better understand the time and quality that needed to go into a title for it to be great. I've designed this game to best work around the skills that I have already worked on, while developing games over the years, a heavier focus on stylized art and entertaining gameplay, rather than pushing graphics to "Next Gen" level and cram in revolutionary gameplay. I have the drive, and time, to make this game something memorable and plan on doing all I can to deliver a fun and entertaining final product.
