Hurried Heroes is a Cross-platform Multiplayer "Beat The Clock" Dungeon Crawler! That's quite the mouthful so lets break it down.
In Hurried Heroes you are a hero or heroine who's come to the fabled Trembul Town to vanquish evil, right wrongs, collect treasure and do it all as quickly as possible. The Island that Trembul Town inhabits is cursed, and at different intervals violent earthquakes consume whole areas, only to shake others free. Because of this, the quests you'll be tasked with completing are all timed. It won't be quite so easy as collect 10 relics and defeat an evil demon when you've got to do all of that before the clock runs out and the whole area is buried in rubble. So what do you do? Do you skip treasure to ensure you survive or do you cross your fingers that you'll be fast enough to fill your pockets while still achieving your goal.
The dungeons are procedurally generated (with some rules for balance... and FUN!), so every quest you are given will create a different dungeon and scenario.
Hurried Heroes lets you customize your hero and choose a Barbarian, Thief, Mage or Archer. And the 3 initial locations on the island that you can quest to are the Keep, Forest Ruins and Cemetery. The hub of your journey is the Tavern, where you can change classes between quests to better suit your team needs. Your heroes level up, gaining new skills and abilities.
You can play hurried heroes in 4 player split-screen on the PC, or play online (or LAN) with up to 8 players. Hurried will allow cross platform play between Android devices and PC (and the platforms will grow if we make it to those stretch goals!)
Algitt Studios has been working on games since 2008, releasing several titles across PC, Xbox Live IG and Android. But make no mistake, Algitt Studios, is just a one man game developer!
Hey, I'm Stephen Scott! I usually wear alot of hats for Algitt Studios, including design, art, programming, etc. I've worked on a wide variety of titles including games for Nickelodeon, PBS Sprout and Disney. More notable titles that I've worked on are Exato Game's Guncraft and Microsoft's Project Spark. I've always loved Co-op Dungeon Crawlers, from Gauntlet Legends to Champions of Norrath, so getting to put my stamp on one of my own feels like a privilege and I am excited to share it with all of you.
Naptime Coordinator, usually found baking in the sun or asleep under the desk. Duties include keeping Stephen on schedule and waking him up promptly to start working (and to give her kibble).
I want to make this game but I can't do it alone. I need your pledges to get this game over the finish line and to put it on as many platforms as possible. I've had a great experience with Kickstarter in the past, having been a part of Exato Games's Guncraft Kickstarter.
I don't think there's a better place to see if other gamers have the same wants and desires that you do as a creator, so Kickstarter was the natural choice.
Note: Most of the stretch goals will appear as free updates, and will not be included in the initial PC/Android release.
Pictures of some Rewards:
Risks and challenges
Every game has its own individual challenges. Hurried's potential obstacles are first multiplatform release and secondly Feature / Content bloat from stretch goals.
The first, multiplatform release will be addressed through staggered releases. The PC and Android version will be developed at the same time, and both release in November, but any additional platforms will come out after that point, likely timed with patches and updates for the released platforms.
For the second, I fully recognize the problems that you run into with feature creep. Your game gets bloated and then you run into problems delivering on time. So my plans to combat this, are to take most of the items that are added through stretch goals into a free update (tentatively called) "Expedition Express". This will allow Hurried Heroes to still release on time, but get all of the features to everyone who's supported the game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
