Fermenting beer releases CO2 into the atmosphere.
We tackle a serious problem for America’s booming craft beer business: reducing brewery CO2 emissions in a cost-effective, sustainable way.
Hi, we’re students from Boulder, CO and we love beer.
In 2011, while speaking to local brewers, we discovered that craft breweries wished they didn’t have to release CO2 into the atmosphere as part of the beer fermentation process. We spent the next few years developing a proprietary algae grower designed specifically for use at craft breweries to solve this problem. We’re ready to build our greenhouse, we just need your support!

Algae soak up CO2. They ‘breathe’ in CO2 and convert it to useful oils such as vegan omega-3 oils. We’ve developed an algae growth system that grows loads of algae in a small space, allowing us to soak up CO2 from breweries and make vegan omega-3 oils. In one step we can both reduce CO2 emissions from breweries AND sell the omega-3 oils to cover our costs.

Upslope Brewing Company (Boulder, CO.) is a great local brewery, and are doing everything they can to be green. That’s why they want to be the first US brewery to have an algae greenhouse on their roof!
We love working with Upslope because they are a great team, they love beer as much as we do, and they have exactly what our algae need.

Upslope Founder, Matt Cutter, said, “The Superior Ecotech team presented a fascinating technology that grabbed our attention from the very beginning. This symbiotic relationship has the potential to help breweries and other industries reduce their carbon footprint for years to come. We are excited to have been chosen as the host site for these student entrepreneurs to prove their concept.”

Risks and challenges
We have spent the last 18 months building a great team and forming a board of business and industry advisers. We have secured an agreement to use the rooftop on which we will build, and we have all the pieces of the puzzle ready to be assembled.
Our partners are providing us with assistance in making sure we can overcome any obstacles we may face.
We are certain that we can deliver the rewards to you on time and will keep you updated every step of the way.
Thank you so much for supporting our project.
