VOTING LINK: 6th TRADING CARD

Posted by Alex Woolfson (Creator)

We've just blown past the seventh ($30,000) stretch goal which unlocks the 6th TRADING CARD. And that means that as a backer YOU get to choose who will be featured! And this time ROMANCE CARDS have also been unlocked for those characters who already have POWERS cards. Time to cast your votes and here's where you can do that!

That will take you to a Web site where you'll be able to pick the character from The Young Protectors who you most want to see on this new card. The link will expire in 24 hours (5/30/13 1:30 PM PST) and whichever character gets the most votes by then will have earned their place on the next trading card you'll receive as a bonus reward!

(Again, please don't share this link. It's just for the awesome backers of this project—like you! Want some help getting votes for your favorite character? Then please encourage your friends to join the fun by becoming backers too!)

So! Your votes are going to decide what me and my team are going to work on and what's going to get sent to you once this project is complete. So far you've chosen Kyle, The Annihilator, Spooky Jones, Flyboy and The Platinum Priestess for your trading cards. Who will you choose this time?

The power is again in your hands! Have fun! :D

I know it wouldn't be nearly the same but you could do the info (though not the art) for the cards that don't get selected as part of the PDF. Just a thought.
Personally while I'd like to know about everyone's powers I'd rather have the romance cards in physical form. (feel free to disregard me if this is completely silly or out of left field)

Alex, I understand. I am excited to just be a part of this amazing project. I hope I get some awesome stuff regardless of how well the project does. More of this needs to be happening!

@Hours: DOH! You're right! Big goof on my part. Thank you for catching it. I'll cancel this link, create a new one and send it out, making sure to check BACKERS ONLY this time.

Maybe it's time to step away from the computer and get something to eat... ;)

I'm really excited about the romance cards, so it's awesome they were unlocked so quickly.

But Alex, I think you might of forgot to make this update "Backers Only", I could see the update before I logged in.

@Brad: Thank you for your suggestion! But actually, the real cost of the cards isn't going to be their distribution (they'll be fairly light), it's in making them— commissioning the full-color art for each card, working with a designer on that card's design, off-set printing costs (for which the individual printing set-up for each card is the biggest expense.)

So, I'd love to be able to offer both powers and romance options for every character—and if this Kickstarter project does crazy well, maybe I'll be able to make that happen—but right now what cards I'll be able to afford to make are currently being driven by popular demand in this Kickstarter and chosen by awesome backers like yourself. :)

Maybe we could consider doing romance cards as an option. If people just want romance cards, they can request that instead of power cards. Maybe some folks want both. Just an idea.

@Jeffrey: I hear you. FWIW, if I just had this voting round be for the romance cards only then there still wouldn't be any chance for a Hunter & Killer powers card, either. At least this way, they do have a chance, if that's what backers want.

And even if, let's say, I decided that the next round of voting for an unlocked card would be for powers cards only, H&K would still have to fight through Commander, Fluke and Tsunami to get chosen and in each set of votes, they've been trounced by those other characters, so even on the power card level, they've got very stiff competition.

My goal with the voting, in addition to adding a bit of fun, was to make sure that backers got a chance to get goodies they really wanted. I think you're instincts are right that the romance cards will indeed be a popular choice. One thing my little brain thought would help even things out a little was to set things up that you could only get a romance card of a character if you already had unlocked a powers card of that character. We'll see how that pans out.

But I can offer one bit of comfort for those (like you and me) who have a soft spot for our two anti-heroes. If enough power cards get unlocked, and there's only one or two characters not chosen, it's likely I'll go ahead create the full set. Because they wouldn't be voted-on rewards, those additional cards wouldn't be sent out with the other rewards to Kickstarter backers. But I would likely make them available via other means at some point in the future. So, if you're really wanting that Hunter/Killer POWERS card, the way things are going, I'll bet I'll be able to accommodate you.

      Hope this helps!

I'm really not a fan of the power cards and the romance cards in the same vote. I want power cards for Hunter and Killer but there's absolutely no way that's going to compete with a Red Hot romance card...
