BEWARE THE FISH PEOPLE: Frank on religion (and the time Frank played the Pope)
Happy Easter, fellow freaks!
Now, for a lot of folks, today is special. But I’m pretty sure Frank himself would never have sent out a note saying “Happy Easter.” As you might know, he wasn’t much for organized religion.
One of his gripes with it was that he felt like it was a bit antithetical to intellectualism. He made this point a lot, but in 1993, in a Playboy interview, this is how he put it: “The essence of Christianity is told to us in the Garden of Eden history. The fruit that was forbidden was on the Tree of Knowledge. The subtext is, all the suffering you have is because you wanted to find out what was going on. You could be in the Garden of Eden if you had just kept your fucking mouth shut and hadn't asked any questions.“ In classic Frank style, he felt pretty strongly about it.
That aside though, I thought today seemed like the perfect day to just remind you of the time Frank played the voice of none other than the Pope on “Ren & Stimpy.” Sorry, can’t help myself here:
We’re more than halfway through the campaign, but we’re more than halfway to $1 million and I’ve got a LOT up my sleeve! Thanks for all your support so far — stay tuned for some AWESOME announcements this week!
