EVERY GUITAR HIS SLAVE: zappamovie.com introduces ROXY screenings, new rewards, & more!

Afternoon, Freaks!

First, if you missed this morning's update... Our Kickstarter has now passed $400,000, which means we're over 80% of the way to our first goal!

Now, before you get too excited, remember: There's a lot of work in front of us if we want to save the Vault, finish the movie and publish that companion book, and we're still a long way from our dream goal of $3MM.

So today, I've got some big announcements to keep things moving:

1. We just launched zappamovie.com

Taking on the first definitive, all-access doc about someone like Zappa is a huge project. Starting an effort to preserve Zappa's massive archives is an even bigger project. And honestly, running a Kickstarter for thousands of people, with tons of new rewards, including Zappa's actual house...? There are a LOT of details to keep track of.

It was starting to feel like too much for one Kickstarter page, and we want to make everything as clear as possible. So, our team busted ass for the last week, and now we've launched zappamovie.com, where you can find EXTENDED FAQs and MORE INFO about me, the documentary, all of it.

Or, you can jump straight to the good stuff, and check out our "store," where...

2. We're now offering "Add-On Rewards"

If you're new to Kickstarter, this might be a new concept, so here's the deal: Getting ADD-ONS is less like crowdfunding, and more like regular online shopping — but it still helps us reach our goal: In addition to your Kickstarter rewards, you can grab whatever Zappa items you want in this online shop – including albums, songbooks, and gear. And it's a huge win-win, because while you get awesome Zappa merch, everything you spend will be counted toward our final funding goal, and used to help save the Vault and unlock more bonus rewards and stretch goals for our campaign!

Some of the new Add-Ons we've worked out aren't just good… they're fucking great. Here are two exclusives that I'm especially stoked about:

1. RARE, OUT-OF-PRINT SONGBOOKS: RE-ISSUED!

If you want to tackle FZ's music yourself, you can grab copies of classic Zappa songbooks like Apostrophe ('), Hot Rats, One Size Fits All and Over-nite Sensation… but now, you can also get fresh new reissues of two EXTREMELY RARE (and MOST EXCELLENT) songbooks:

       - Frank Zappa Songbook Vol. 1 (1973)
       - The Frank Zappa Guitar Book (1982)

2. THE FZ SIGNATURE GUITAR STRAP

This one is awesome: Our friends at Souldier have pulled some reels of vintage fabric out of their own Vault to help us offer a limited edition ZAPPA GUITAR STRAP, just like the ones Frank used. But instead of "ACE" like Frank had, these straps have Frank's signature embossed on the leather.

Souldier's vintage material is limited, so they can only make a couple hundred of these straps ever… and our campaign is the only place you'll be able to get them. You’ve been warned!!!

If you have more questions about this stuff, just check our ADD-ON REWARD FAQ

And the last thing you absolutely should not miss on the new website [Bozzio, drum roll please]:

3. Now you can see ROXY THE MOVIE on the big screen!

Many of you are quite familiar with Frank & the Mothers’ totally legendary performances at the Roxy Theater in Hollywood in December of 1973 — the audio for those live shows formed the basis for the album Roxy & Elsewhere.

The 16mm footage, however, went straight into the Vault, where it hibernated until just a couple years ago when the ZFT — as part of their ongoing effort to get some of that stuff into the world — was able to digitize and painstakingly edit the audio and visual material to make ROXY: THE MOVIE, which was released straight to DVD and Blu-ray.

And that's awesome, but it also means ROXY has never been shown in theaters, other than a single premiere in Hollywood… until now. Since this month is all about FZ, and bringing his fans together, it seemed like the perfect time to get ROXY onto the big screen, where we can all enjoy it in its full, wall-sized glory… and help raise more for the Kickstarter at the same time!

That's why I'm psyched to announce...

The ROXY: THE MOVIE WTFIFZ BENEFIT TOUR 2016

So, there you is!

We're 80% of the way to our first goal, and we've got a new website, add-on rewards, and ROXY fundraiser screenings to help us keep things moving. Plus, tomorrow I'm planning to announce a few new PLEDGE LEVELS here on Kickstarter.

Hope to see you at a screening of ROXY!!!

I actually own both of those books, but it's great that you are bringing them back in print. I learned how to play Uncle Meat on piano from the Songbook.
