Hello fellow Kickstarters! This is Alex Vitet, Creative Director and Founder of DNA+. Thanks for passing by and checking out our project, the Cobalt Lamp. With your support, our goal is to bring one of the first modular LED lamps to your living space.We have been designing bath products for DNA+ since the launch of the brand, and people always ask if we are expanding our home collection by including lamp designs. Well, you guessed it, we decided to give it a try with your help via Kickstarter.
The look and feel of the lamp is meant to live well in both architectural / commercial and residential environments. The lamp is crafted with a beautiful and strong die-cast body in aluminum alloy and organic glass. Every component has been selected carefully and controlled to match our quality expectations. The lamp brings an extra level of safety and is virtually unbreakable.
A MODULAR LIGHT:
Cobalt Lantern comes with a sustainable solid state lighting module to integrate high-efficiency precision lighting with an easy-to-use socketed solution.By emulating a traditional lighting socket, the Cobalt Light engine is easy to install, similar to traditional light sources. Beam angle, color temperature and light output can all be easily changed or upgraded with the simple turn of the wrist, post-installation, without the complexity and expense of removing the luminaire. Product options are tailored to match light output levels of traditional light sources, delivering between up to 2000 lumens under application conditions in halogen and fluorescent color temperature options (from 2700k to 5700k) and offer narrow (from 20 degres) and medium (to 50 degres) flood-beam patterns.
Cobalt Lantern will ship with two specific LED module versions:
USA / Canada: 120v AC direct
Europe and other countries: 120 - 277v
Cobalt Lantern’s first launch is introducing 9 different powder coated colors with a nice matte finish.
Cobalt lamps use LED modules that incorporates an embedded TRIAC dimmable electronic driver. The module connects directly to 120V AC line voltage input, eliminating the need for external drivers. It is compatible with many electrical installations.For international orders, the lamp is equipped with an external electronic driver into the ceiling cap and is also dimmable.Cobalt Lantern is compatible with most of the today's LED engines from major brands, allowing both integration and design flexibility.
Two-in-one solution: passive and active cooling. Cobalt Lantern comes with a cylinder heat sink and spiral aluminum fins used to cool last generation processors as well as a fan. Optimized structure and smart airflow design provides a longer life to the LED engine. Average lifetime up to 50 000 hours.
QUICK POWER DISCONNECT:
Easy, fast, compact, Cobalt Lamp features the latest of inter connectivity and safety. No need to unmount the fixture from its ceiling base; male and female connectors are there to provide a maximum of flexibility.

WHERE DOES YOUR CONTRIBUTION GO:
Cobalt Lantern is a fully developed product ready to go to production. We have identified the right manufacturers for this lamp. What we still need in term of financial help is for;
-Tooling for injection molding and die casting.
-Packaging design and manufacturing.
-A first production run of 1500 set to reach our pricing goal and make the lamp affordable to the public.

Extremely simple: the lamp just connects direct to any standard junction box via the ceiling cap. Push-in-connectors are already pre-installed, so all you need to do is to plug the wires into the connector.
In normal conditions of use, luckily you will not have to do it. But whatever the reasons are ( you may want to upgrade for a different color temperature...) if needed, this is very simple, just unscrew the Oglass dome at the bottom, then unscrew the three socket head screws from the reflector and turn the led module counterclockwise until physical and audible click. Module will disengage at this point.
To Mate: rotate the module in a clockwise direction until module drops into socket. Electrical and thermal connections have engaged at this point.
