A tale of two cases – 40 Day Countdown

Backers,

A week in China does a lot to the heart, mind, and stomach. With just 40 days left until our target ship date, small factories across the southern rim are filled with orange. We'll update you soon with the full story of our Chinese adventure, in which we design-tweaked and triple-checked production samples for most of our 21 components.

Today though, we're focusing on one of them – the Kano Case. We're confronted with a crucial design choice – and we need your help. We couldn't have made the Kano Kit without you, and in that sense, it belongs to you. Help us make this call by leaving a comment below...

We have two options for the Kano Case.

The new Kano Books

The Kano Book was the first thing we ever made... Alex found Tommy in frosty northern Sweden, sent a few verses, some sketches came back, and a story started. Since then, the Kano Books have evolved in their steps, design, and projects. Here's a preview...

BOOK 1 - MAKE A COMPUTER // BOOK 2 - CODE POWERS
BOOK 1 - MAKE A COMPUTER // BOOK 2 - CODE POWERS

Keyboard combos

The Kano Keyboard is at final working prototype phase, and we're finishing up a cool idea for the box (for those who ordered separately). What do you think? It's a type of design we're calling "packaging verité."

Two mayors, two Kano Kits, one race...

Boris Johnson vs Mike Bloomberg... Political plugging
Boris Johnson vs Mike Bloomberg... Political plugging

In one corner – Boris Johnson, Mayor of London.

In the other – Mike Bloomberg, former New York City mayor

Between them, two Kano Kit prototypes, fresh from China, and six London schoolchildren. The challenge: who could build a computer fastest. We held the stopwatch to kick off London Technology Week.

We're getting there...

Last time we updated you, our target delivery date was first week of August, and that remains the same. As ever, we're working day and night to push the envelope on quality and time. We've shipped the factories our books, SD cards, packaging, stickers, and a few other fun surprises that we hope will make you say "wow." As ever, our ears and hearts are open – contact us any time, with any thing.

With love from London,

Kano
