In the Bible, Jesus often used parables to help people understand deep truths on a personal level. Parables enable the audience to find themselves in the story and to discover life lessons that are significant in their season. Koning the Lion is, in a sense, a next-generation parable. It is a story of the Father's love for his sons and daughters, of the intentional boundaries he gifts his children with, and of his inexhaustible forgiveness that always leads his wandering kids back home where they belong. My prayer is that as children from all backgrounds and walks of life open this book, they would be drawn by the Spirit of God to their Father. I pray they would see the truth of the Gospel, that their eyes would be open, and that they would grow up knowing that there is no better place to be than home with their Father.
Risks and challenges
I have chosen to publish this book with Mascot Publishers for a few reasons. The primary reason is that I want this book not only in the hands of children and families who have a relationship with Jesus Christ, but I want it in homes where there is no other trace of the Gospel. I wanted a publisher who does not target religious organizations, but rather disperses their books to a wide range of families. I want the illustrator to read this book as they create its imagery and be transformed by an understanding of the love of God. The second reason is that by publishing with Mascot, I retain all the rights to this book. Every detail of its writing has been intentional and I don't want to give up a single thing that could make an impact in someone's life. Because Mascot is a hybrid publisher, there is a large cost upfront for the author. We have to pay for printing, illustrations, marketing, and stocking. That's where you come in! You can help us make sure that hundreds and thousands of kids hear the story of Koning the Lion by your generous donation.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
