Welcome to my new film, Little Fishes, here on Kickstarter...
Simply put, this is a film about girls in love.
Three women, who were friends as children, meet up after ten long years only to find that their bond is still strong. The memory of Goby saved from drowning by Pearl at Santa Monica beach still haunts them. Goby never got to thank Pearl for giving her the gift of life.
On another warm summer day, in the present, Goby reveals to Pearl that she is in love with her and wants to be with her sexually.
- They can both recall the poem, Little Fish by D. H. Lawrence:
"The tiny little fish enjoy themselves
in the sea.
Quick little splinters of life,
their little lives are fun to them
in the sea."
Later that evening, Goby and Pearl have sex for reasons neither one of them can explain.
However, the third friend in the triad, Marina, doesn't like this new relationship one bit. Marina is left out of the circle of light. She frequently fails at relationships in general. She seeks out another old friend, Jack, to get the attention of Gil, her lazy boyfriend. who lives out of his van. She kisses Pearl underwater in the pool. Marina is crying out for attention and belonging.
Ultimately, it all comes down to Pearl, having to make sense of it all. She loses Goby and time slips away. Can Pearl make a new start with Angel or is she permanently lost in a tide of confusion?
I based this story on that small slice of poetry above. And that's how Little Fishes came to be a movie. For me, it's personal.
What many people may have forgot is that D.H. Lawrence, author of fthe book, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, was a controversial force in literature. His books were banned for being too erotic and his descriptions of sexual yearning as been copied by many writers since.
Decades before Fifty Shades of Grey, Lawrence explored the consequences of love, feelings and the explosive heart.
Please join us in this journey.

Risks and challenges
The heart of a project needs a beat. Alexia's goal is for the film to be screened at Marche du Film in Cannes, France this May and eventually worldwide. It's not every film that can make it, it's a collaborative effort and it doesn't just have to do with how much money is raised. Alexia has proved that at every step, she tries her hardest to succeed at getting her films shown. Her last film, Adventures in Plymptoons!, about Oscar-nominated animator played at 40 film festivals and is available on DVD and on Hulu.com. Alexia has a track record of letting nothing stand in her way when it comes to art.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
