It's quite simple: I will write a story based on your preferences and your suggestions. Isn't it cool?
How does it work?
That's how it works in brief: depending on the pledge level you choose you will be able to vote between a selection of literature's genres as well as propose a name to be used in the story. Some of you will also be allowed to vote for the story's title.
Any backer will receive a digital copy of the story while everyone that pledges 3€ or more will be allowed to vote for the story's genre. This is what you can vote for:
- classic sci-fi
- distopic future
- classic fantasy
- steampunk fantasy
To a limited number of backers (20 in total) will be granted the chance to propose a name to be used in the story. It will be up to you (if you choose that reward tier) if you want me to use your first name or an invented one. It will also be up to you if you want it to be used for a character, a place, an object or a creature (please note that some restrictions might apply).
For some of you there will also be the opportunity to receive a signed printed copy of the story and vote for the title (from a list of at least 3 titles that I will create).
Why should I bother giving my money to you?
That's a good question. Actually there's no other reason if not being part of a simple and funny publishing project. Think about it: I will write a story on a topic of your choice, with characters, places and much more of your choice and you will also decide which title the story will have. So that's why you should give me your money: to be an active part of the whole project. And, just to say: it will cost you just a few Euro.
I already ran a Kickstarter campaign on last December to fund the publishing of my first sci-fi novel: "The Castaway". If you want to read the first chapter of it you can do it here: mfrz.it/thecastaway-sample. These are some of the very early comments backers told me after reading it:
"Fluent and beautifully written." — Matteo C.
"Really nice! And what an ending!" — Francesco U.
"Made me want to go on reading." — Samuele M.
"Nice plot, fluent reading and really nice ending!" — Pasquale C.
What will I get?
I will write a short story following the literature genre you choose. It will be 16 pages long in the same format as my previously published novel (12x17cm). I will send you a digital copy in these 3 formats: ePub (compatible with Apple's devices), mobi (to be read on your Kindle) and PDF.
If you choose the highest pledge level you will qualify to receive a signed printed copy of the story. Most of you will be also featured in the "thank you" page as precious and generous supporters of the project!
The story will be originally written in Italian and then profesionally translated to English so you will be able to read it in one of those two languages or both, if you'd like to!
Wondering what the cover will look like? Well, even that will depend on you! Please, take a look to the stretch goals...
As you may have seen the goal it's pretty low. So, let's talk about some exciting stretch goals:
50€ DOUBLE LENGHT — The story will be 32 pages long! Not bad, uh?
200€ B/W COVER ART — I will commissionate a professional illustrator a black & white cover art that will be featured both in the digital copies that on the printed ones.
350€ FULL COLOR COVER ART — Instead of a simple b/w illustration I will commissionate a full color one.
ADD ON (€ TBA) COVER ART PRINT — If any of the two cover art stretch goals will be met I will grant the possibility to EVERY backer to modify his/her pledge to receive a print of the cover's artwork on premium quality paper. I will also add a new limited number reward tier to offer some of those art prints hand signed by the artwork's author.
The artist in charge of drawing the cover is Daniel Comerci, an Italian concept artist with tons of great pieces in his portfolio! You can browse it on www.hounworks.it. What follows it's a small showcase of some of his works.
Thanks for reading! =)
Risks and challenges
Option 1: You won't like my story, you will then pursue me to the end of the World to have back your money and curse me for the rest of my life for the time you've lost.
Option 2: You feel extra-comfortable and confident on the project since you read that I already ran a successful one on December and all customers has been fully satisfied. So, all goes smoothly and you'll love my story so much that you will ask for more, over and over and over.
Seriously talking: there will be some challenge, as in every project some arises soon or later. I might have a delay in printing or shipping times (not had in my previous campaign but you know, it just might happen) or encounter that damn, famous, "writer's block" that will lead to longer times. Anyway I will do ANYTHING that's in my hand to complete the project just in time and with the highest quality level possible!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
