10/15/2014 Update: We now can distribute free copies to our Android backers! Spread the word!
Combo Queen is a fast-paced, hack and slash, action RPG for the mobile device. Your main objective is to plow through thousands of monsters by performing crazy combos with our lovely character Queen, the cute, psychotic killer. Combos and parries are all performed by precise, timed hits: one finger taps for attacks and two finger taps for parries. You'll be able to level up, purchase combo sets and upgrade Queen with new equipment. Combo Queen was inspired by numerous games I've played over my lifetime. For a Press Kit, please see the FAQs at the bottom.
Actions in Combo Queen are based on timed hits. There is a gauge that closes in to help you time attacks. You must be precise to land your hits and maintain your combo.
One finger for attacking:
Two fingers for parrying:
As you successfully combo and parry attacks, the Combo Burst Bar will build up. When full, you can then initiate a Combo Burst by tapping the screen with three fingers at once, which will enable you to tap the screen as many times as you like to perform an endless combo before your bar depletes.
The only way to survive is to successfully parry attacks from monsters. Queen is extremely strong offensively, but when it comes to taking damage, she's as fragile as glass. A single hit from the enemy will kill her, but as you level up she'll be able to sustain more hits. You will also receive items and equipment to help survive longer.
Update for Rare Monsters:
Queen is our main character who you, the player, control to dish out a barrage of combos and attacks. As cute as she is, she's a bit on the psychotic side and quite dramatic - oh, and she loves to kill for fun. Queen wields her trusty dual tomahawks into battle!
Grunts are the smaller minions of the Giant Clan. Very lightweight soldier who are quick to move.
Giants are the middle class of the Giant Clan. They are the first species of the Giant Clan.
Steel Giants are the elite class soldiers evolved from Giants. They are extremely strong and agile despite their massive size.
Combo Queen has been self-funded since day one, but now funds for this project are running low due to working on it full-time. Unfortunately, I will soon be forced to put the project on hold. With the help of the Kickstarter Community, I really think that this project can get jump-started back up and make its way toward its originally planned release in December 2014.
Where will the money go towards?
- Living expenses and development costs to continue directing and programming Combo Queen.
- Creation of the remaining environment assets, animations, and designs necessary to finish the original concepts and reach our ultimate vision for the project.
- Remaining sound effect and background music development.
Alex Ergas @AlexErgas (Creative Director, Producer, and Programmer)
Alex is an eager, hard-working developer by day, and, well, he's also an eager, hard-working developer by night. Instead of sleeping he watches speedrunners on Twitch.tv while doing bicep curls with bags of cement.
Hikaru Kawano @hikaru41743 (Awesome Assistant Director)
Hikaru is usually on the go, working wherever, however, and whenever he can, always wearing a suit. Does he sleep in that??
Phil Giarrusso @rephildesign (Pixel Artist Master)
Phil sits in a chair for 7 hours a day, hunched over a computer, dreaming about the day cyborg back implants are widely available. Oh, he also does lots of pixel art.
Filippo Vicarelli @theMidiTamer (Epic Sound Designer)
Filippo is a musical genius and addicted to MIDI music. For some reason music notes resonate from his head when he talks. He forgot to pick the Human class before spawning.

Risks and challenges
Game development is a tough and time consuming process, especially when you're trying to make the game as fun and polished as possible for an audience swimming in endless titles to choose from. We've reduced many of the risks for you (the backers) by putting a lot of time and effort into making a great working prototype, while providing the proper concepts to convey our vision. We are passionate gamers and creators who have had lots of experience developing mobile apps and games. We have the utmost confidence that we can provide you with the best gameplay, user experience and content for this type of game.
We're trying to beat the tiring trend of "Flappy Bird clone" types of games, which has saturated and taken over a large chunk of the mobile marketplace. Our goal is to provide you with a unique style of gameplay, plenty of fun game content, and *authentic*, beautiful pixel art design.
We want to bring our vision to life, and it isn't possible without your help. Any and all support is greatly appreciated! Please, if interested, join us in our creative process and see how big Combo Queen can become!
Thank you so much for your time,
